I'll try to make this the only time I address this on the board, but I realize a few posters here don't understand my support of baseball in the past. That's fine. Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one.

But it's so much fun to see the passion this staff brings to the program and, whether you believe it or not, more importantly to the maturation process of these young men AND each other. Watch the players and see how much more engaged they are, how they support each other, how they are a team. This staff cares, they bleed WSU and they're out there everyday to get better and get the job done. It's a joy to watch and even more fun to support.

I know there are 1000s of fans that used to support baseball but haven't for some time. Most of those fans are, like me, getting up there in age. We have to cultivate new fans. But if you're listening, please come back. I'm not going to claim some special run to Omaha is happening this year, but you will be proud of the way this team goes about their business, and you'll be proud to support them at the stadium, and you'll be proud once again to wear the colors. And they will all be thankful for your support.

How much do season tickets cost for really good seats (not suite, but down low near the action and with good visibility)?

Somebody gave me a ballpark before, but I can't remember what thread that was in.

        $200-$225

Wichita State baseball season tickets are available to purchase for the 2020 season. The schedule will be announced at a later date, but conference home series include Tulane, Cincinnati, USF and UConn.

Our next 6 games are against opponents with a combined 2 -19 record. We should win these games and have a great looking record but a horrible RPI.

Hofstra has not been particularly strong in any phase of the game so far. They're batting a respectable .269 but that's a little skewed with 2 players having great numbers. Sophomore infielder Anthony D'Onofrio is white hot early in the season, 14-27 .519 and junior infielder Austin Gauthier almost as good at 12-26 .462.

However, the team ERA is pedestrian at 5.65 and they walk (40) almost as many as they strikeout (48). But they are fielding a truly awful .940 and not surprisingly given up a schmeidload of unearned runs as well.

Nevada isn't a lot better. They were dusted in 3 games against Portland, outscored 5-33. Then they lost 3 to Oregon but the 1st 2 were 1 run decisions. They field ok .976 but they are only hitting .176 and striking out almost 5 times more often than walking (53-11). Pitching numbers aren't much better. 7.63 ERA and Ks/BB ratio of 41/29 but 16 of those Ks are from Owen Sharts.

                Owen Sharts. Yeesh.

I read that whole thing carefully, and my only takeaway was also Owen Sharts.

I agree with you WuDrWu. The Butler seasons were an embarrassment. There was no pride on the field. No pride in the program. You have to work and no one was willing to do that.

Wedge coming in and Scooter Hibbs coming home made me proud instantly. I think I have already watched more innings of Shocker Baseball this season than each of the last two Butler seasons. I'm not willing to watch poor effort, bad decisions and bad coaching. Our season tickets went from 2 to 5 in support of the New Old Shocker Way.

This team won't finish last in the conference. The hitting is going to fail to score enough runs some, but the pitching will keep them in games. I think the love of the game and the pride in the program will elevate the program quickly.

I felt like Cincinnati over-achieved last season based on effort and teamwork and BBIQ. No way they were the 2nd most talented team in the American, but they played with a purpose and an attitude and a drive that brought them more success than their talent probably dictated. I certainly think it's possible that WSU will see a similar uptick this season. Doing things the right way matters. So does talent and as I've said many, many times, so does the opponent. But I do think this program can see some similar success (not 2nd in league but better than last).

Leadoff single by Sigrist. Jackson draws a walk. Lets get em in!

Cornblum with a fly out to CF that advances Sigrist.

Gibson with the 1-out double to score Sigrist! 2 still in scoring position.

Some well disciplined swings out of the gate. Hopefully we can really capitalize here in the first.
