There are a jillion 'breaking balls' of which a 'curveball' is one.

Generally a curveball breaks from top to bottom (12 to 6), while a slider will break more left to right or right to left.

Kind of. Breaking ball is kind of catch all for anything that has a wrinkle to it. Could be curve, a slider, a slurve (kind of curve/slider mix) or a sinker. A curve is bit more specific kind of breaking ball. Curves are generally thrown slower than a slider. A slider, hopefully, looks a lot like a fastball, with a late, sharp dip at the end.

The ability to hit breaking pitches often is what separates the wheat from the chaff as you move up the chain.
