  • Shocks vs wild kitties #1

Per a tweet from Shane Dennis: VanVooren is on the lineup card in CF. Elliot takes over LF from Katzfey. Couper in the three hole. Barnhouse on the bump.

    Cade Clemons at SS
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Glad to see Elliot get another shot, I certainly thought he earned it yesterday. And it's good to see VanVooren back to action. Certainly the offense needs improvement and he might help with that, but the bench also needed another body in general.

Clemons is a middle INF but can play anywhere, so not so mind-blowing that he is at SS...he played there yesterday.

Tommy Barnhouse looks better than he's ever looked. Efficient 1-2-3 first with a nifty play by Jack Sigrist to set the Kitties down in order after K'ing the first 2 batters.

Dude threw 79 for 9 innings yesterday, and the KSU starter today is throwing 93.

          0-0 E1

WSU did put the ball in play 3 times.

And just like that Tommy loses the leadoff batter, not close at all.

Barnhouse recovers to get 3 straight including 2 more Ks. Good so far, though pitch count is elevated (35).

Maybe he just wanted to pitch the inning from the stretch. He certainly did okay with it.

Tommy has decent velocity and is moving it around pretty good. Got a call on the 2nd out, but frankly should have gotten the call on the previous pitch. He looks good so far but yeah, the pitch count.

Lot of standing around watching that inning. Woof.

This game is going to be about 1:45 and you better be the first team to score.
