  • If Trey Vickers is healthy enough to go in and play SS in the 8th why wasn't he healthy enough to pinch hit for Dugas? I suppose HCTB was going for the Lefty vs Righty angle but still........4 year player, probably the best contact hitter on the team, when you need a single vs an inexperienced freshman who has 2 career AB's and while he did homer in his first AB it was a bit of a flukey homer.

    • Dominant 8th from Preston as he strikes out the side in order. 17 on the day for the Shocker pitchers, a new season high (2 better than yesterday's previous high water mark of 15).

Utterly phenomenal mid-week effort from our pitchers over the last 2 days. We have 3 outs left to spend to try to pick them up today.

      • If you have to keep pinch-hitting for your clean-up hitter with the game on the line, you MIGHT want to rethink your lineup card.

Stuff like this is what I keep having trouble getting past.

        • Can't blame the pitching today. 17 strikeouts to 3 walks, but 4 HBPs as well. Gotta have one here.

          • Mason with a leadoff walk, first runner allowed on the season (!) by ORU's closer.

            • WOW. FIRST baserunner of the YEAR allowed by Gossage.

              • Katzfey fails to get the bunt down and then strikes out. Yuck.

1 out, runner still on first for Travis Young. Gunnar on deck.

                • Shows bunt and takes a called 3rd strike.

                  • Croft caught stealing as the Shockers shoot their toes off after f*cking up the sac bunt effort. Dog gone it.

                    Down to our last bullet.

I guess we know who our Daddy is.

                    • For less than $10000 a year I will offer up the use of my dartboard to improve lineup construction.

                      • Well rats. That is a frustrating one given the incredible effort from the back end of our bullpen today. I suppose the pitchers gave one away on Sunday and the hitters decided to even it up this afternoon.

Lots of good things to build on for the hurlers, hopefully they can keep it rolling through this weekend. Hitters need to do the pitchers' laundry the rest of the school week.

Must be a Louisiana pride thing. Maybe DSB can piece it together for us?

                          What a wasted pitching performance.

Nothing new from the coach's box the last 5 years either.

                            • Good work by McGinness, Tyler and Minor. Lucky to survive shaky pitching by Killgore and Evans to be in the game. Shocks still not very good at small ball.

Doesn't sound to me like a very fun game to watch. 31 strikeouts, 7 walks, 6 hits batters and 17 runners left on base combined.

Glad we only have two more 5 game weeks, of which one includes another game with ORU.

I think the best thing I saw from these two games was some progress by Alex Segal and Cody Tyler.

Does Trey Vicker's appearance in the field in the 8th inning indicate he will be in the lineup this weekend? Hope so.
