Today was a day that certainly had some rays of hope shine through primarily the piching performances of So. Preston Snavely, Fr. Alex Segal and Fr. Tyler Davis to go along with what we have seen from Fr. Liam Eddy is certainly a positive. Now we will see if they can bring these kind of performances on a consistent basis.

Also liked what we got from So. Noah Croft at the plate today.

The pitching performance by the 3 youngsters was particulary helpful in a 5-game week and this was a big question mark for this Shocker team.

As good as the 3 Shocker pitchers were today I think my pitcher of the day may just have to go to Bailey Lange of the Shocker softball team as she pitched a complete game (7 innings) shut-out to beat 16-1 Arkansas at Wilkin Stadium.

Bailey though maybe wasn't as clean as the Shocker guys. She escaped a bases loaded no-outs jam in the 1st, a 2nd & 3rd 1-out jam in the 2nd and a bases loaded 1-out jam in the 4th before setting down the final 9 Arkansas batters in a row to somehow make a 2-out solo homer by her catcher Madison Perrigan standup.

The Lady Shocks though haven't had enough of this wind they have a 2nd game staring shortl

As far as today's game goes SIU-E has struck out a lot this year but 15 K's from the Shocker youngsters while only walking 1 and only giving up only 3 hits (none by the two Freshman) was really quite impressive. My prediction is before the year is over we will see a change in the weekend starting rotation. But these guys have to prove they can bring it consistently before that happens.

This weekend's opponent UT-Arlington hosts Baylor this evening at the Rangers' ballpark. I'll be heading out shortly to spy behind enemy lines in person.

Impressive pitching. 15k, 1 walk. That is 1990's type pitching that would make Kemnitz proud.

The weather in Tulsa tomorrow will be a bit more hospitable than the weather we had for today's game.

Sunny, 53 degrees with NW winds at 10 mph with the winds gradually diminsihing as the game progresses.

According to Warrennolan.com we have already won the game against ORU, the score just needs to be determined.

Croft and Katzfey both out of the lineup (combined 12 for 27).

            Dugas batting cleanup.

I'm stuck in 1997. 2018's game says that this is brilliant lineup construction.

Ugh, Wallace smoked at the plate on a perfect relay following a 2 out double by Travis Young. Still 0-0 to the bottom of the 2nd.

Tough to tell without seeing how close it was. I don't mind being aggressive with 2 outs at the bottom of the order.

Agreed, odds of executing a relay from the fence at this level are less than 50%. Odds of the bottom of our order pushing someone across with 2 outs are significantly lower - might as well roll the dice there, assuming it was reasonably close.

Good job by Killgore battling back from a 3-0 count for the K after a leadoff walk.
