Ewing has spent a lot of time in the NBA as an assistant, so he certainly knows his Xs and Os. But he's gonna need some instant credibility with DC-area recruits as well as someone who has worked in college coaching for a while as an assistant or head coach.

I don't know if it is a terrible hire or not. Only time will tell for sure. However, hiring a "name" often does not work out well. I'll give Patrick the beneifit of he doubt for now. However, it is a somehwat underwhelming hire on the surface.

I think you're going to see more hires like this by middling P5-type teams. Hope the NBA-ness can sell recruits. Avery Johnson at Alabama comes to mind. He's had some significant recruiting success, I believe.

Chris Mullins is at St Johns I believe. He's been a dud so far.

                      What's Danny Ainge's record?

Doesn't seem like Ainge did that bad of a job in Phoenix. Was the 1998-99 season a strike shortened season? I see that he only coached 50 games that season
