Allen is an elite level player and an elite level asshat.

Amazing!! One would think that as The Brat is playing for Duke, he would understand it will be an issue and receive a lot a (bad) attention.

It's a big deal at Duke, it's a big deal at UMKC. Sure, the national media won't pick up on this type of situation at UMKC, but the local media will, as will the media within their conference. Players on other teams will know, the fans will know, coaches will know and referees will know.

I don't disagree that in your example, the WAC wouldn't know about a situation like this. Officials, local media, and the conference itself.

My issue with this whole fiasco is that the national media is fanning the flames and you have a lot of people thinking that this kid effectively should be finished with college basketball. And the disconnect for me is that there are what, three supposedly confirmed situations where this has occurred and he was assessed one total technical foul in the whole deal? Maybe two? I can't recall.

I generally have faith in organizations that they will do the right thing. Unless there is overwhelming evidence that they are corrupt, dirty, etc. Duke is a great academic institution. Coach K went to West Point and while he has many detractors I think the world generally respects him. Likewise Mike White is probably in the top 3 of most well-liked and respected ADs in all of college athletics. Don't you think that Duke would take serious action if they thought all of the concern was valid? They know more than anyone about the kid and the situation. They have a reputation to uphold as one of the nation's fine universities. This ain't some commuter school like UNLV or something. Secondly, don't you think the ACC would suspend Allen if they thought his actions were worthy of it? Especially if they feel like it is putting fellow conference members student-athletes health in jeopardy? And they have I am sure investigated and taken no action. And thirdly, the NCAA takes a lot of abuse but they would take action too in my opinion if they felt it was warranted and yet they have not acted.

Honestly I feel bad for the kid. By all accounts he is a good dude and I think there is some mental issue with this. He just struggles to control it or something. I don't think that he is at shootaround on the day of a game and thinks "I am totally going to trip someone today and nobody will do anything about it." It's a weird deal but I don't think he is deserving of all the ridiculous piling on that you see from the national guys on social media.

Oh, good grief Casey, get a handle on reality. This guy is intentionally tripping people. Check out some east coast HS ball. they don't always play nice. He's got a right to put his feet where he wants to put them. It's not necessarily a foul if another player trips over them. He's exploiting something in the rules to his advantage and he doesn't care if he hurts someone.

Casey, you are right about Duke having a decent reputation. They are losing it with their lack of serious action on this. When he tried to do it again, after his 1-game suspension, it was obvious the coaches and administration didn't care if he was bending the rules and endangering opponents - as long as he could help them win some games.

If he's planning on an NBA career, he better learn to play a little different style. There are enforcers in the NBA and they take injuries seriously.
