  • Every word that is now asterisks started with an F, ended with a K and had a UC in the middle.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

    • I'm really speechless. Charlie Strong is gone, the Longhorns have a losing record again, Houston didn't get an invite, the networks are banding together to kill the conference at the end of the GOR and no team will make the playoffs again.

Dan Beebe must be so proud.

        • Don't feel too badly for Charlie Strong, he's looking at a multi million dollar payoff anyway. Tough luck Texass

          • I'm surprised he still had a job when the wheels hit the ground. Sounds like after this weekend he is gone. The Big12 is done.

Shaka and Texas lose … again. This time to TCU. Rick Barnes would be getting crucified right now in Austin.

              • Turns out Shaka may have committed career suicide by accepting that job. Meanwhile, VCU still humming along, leading the A10. I wonder how long he has left to turn it back around. Gonna be really funny if we see him in the MVC.

Shaka got bank. He can get fired, cash his check and work for ESPN.

                  • Is this his 1st or 2nd year?
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

                      This is his second year.

It's important to note that "humming along, leading the A10" is a new thing since Smart left.

Never understood the amount of fascination for a guy that never won his own league. Spent 3 years in the CAA and 3 in the A10. Finished 2nd 3 times and 4th or lower 3 times.

I suppose you have to give him credit for milking that Final 4 run for all it was worth.

I certainly don't think he's a bad coach. And he's had some success in the tournament. I think the tournament success stacked up next to marginal league success points somewhat to the effect of a gimmicky system. Now, I love gimmicky systems and begrudge no one that runs one. But using it against a team that's never seen you before and had 18 hours to prepare, on a neutral court most certainly in your underdog favor, is a recipe for success. Not so much playing on the road against a conference team that's seen it 5 times.

                            • Plus they just suspend their top scorer Mack for the good ol' generic "violation of team rules"
If you're not going to go all the way, why go?

                              • And there's also the possibility of a different type of mentality at a place like Texas instead of VCU. It may be a lot harder to get Texas recruits to buy in. I suppose the culture at Texas might be wreaking "Havoc" on his coaching style...

I figure at a place like Texas, you aren't going to get much time if you aren't immediately successful. I think he's a good coach and all, but I don't root for him. I doubt they will have MVC moral victory levels of patience.
