I have seen two games at AFH. One was against Colorado in the mid-2000s and the other was a Big Monday game about five years ago that turned out to be a blowout. Both games were dull. KU expected to win, and the fans acted like it. Yes, I am sure that the final Missouri game and other similar games could almost be considered to be spiritual experiences. Well duh! Give me a big game in any venue, and the same thing will happen. I still argue that Koch is better because I highly doubt that Phog, Cameron, Rupp, and others would have raucous sellout crowds for NIT games against Western Kentucky and College of Charleston. That's what makes Koch Arena and the WSU fanbase so special.

So put me in the "AFH is overrated" crowd as well.

New Mexico informs Big 12 of its interest to join should the conference expand. Their letter of information makes the case for why I think the PAC 12 would include New Mexico should the Big 12 implode.

Apparently the LBGT community is urging the Big 12 not to allow BYU. Apparently the LBGT finds that Mormon's aren't inclusive enough. Is this ironic or normal? I can't tell anymore.

It's sad that those who have faced bigotry would perpetuate religious bigotry against others.

You obviously haven't brushed up on your "intolerant tolerance" coursework lately. Also might want to take a look back at your "closed-mindedness for the open-minded" training.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by normal and/or ironic, but if BYU isn't acceptable, then Baylor, Notre Dame, Boston College, etc. etc. etc. probably would be unacceptable also. While i believe that all of these schools accept LGBT students, I don't think I'm mistaken to say that all of the church denominations that have an association with the schools have church doctrine that considers Homosexuality behavior as sinful. I believe that all of these schools have student LGBT groups.

Should the Big 12 seek a merger with the SEC or PAC 12?

Since Utah was not admitted as a state until the Mormons abolished bigamy, and since there are some Mormons (not part of the LDS church) who still practice bigamy, I find this remark interesting. Seems like we as a nation perpetuated religious bigotry against them somewhere around 1896.

                    Not really.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I guess you forgot deep East Texas. Time for a joke.

The kid from deep east Texas was excitedly telling his father about the wonderful woman he had met. ".....And best of all, she's a virgin."

At that point the father became obviously agitated and told his son, "Son, you can't marry her! If she's not good enough for her family, she's not good enough for you!"

                          Or this one.....

There was a couple who was moving from West Virginia to Arkansas. The man was 'mansplainin' to all his friends about how wonderful the move was going to be, when his wife suddenly interrupted him. "But does that mean if we move to Arkansas I can't call you daddy anymore?" :)

Those might be jokes but ive found that up here stories like that could be true.

U of H looks like they are trying to establish themselves as the primary player in the BigXII derby. Wonder if the folks who live outside Kansas understand the depth of pockets of alums (like the Koch Brothers with WSU and Tilman Fertita and John Moores (among other graduates from U of H).

Just in case you're in the need for entertainment, look at this list. Lots of accomplished people and some, well, more like fodder for a gossip column:

Just remember when you're reading this that there are 3.5 times more people living in Houston that in the entire state of Nebraska, 1.75 times more than in the state of Oklahoma and more. However you slice the numbers, that's a LOT of TV sets and it would put the Big12 squarely back at the top of the Houston TV market (our closest school affiliated with a major conference is A&M):

PS: I'm making no secret that I'm rooting for U of H and BYU, I know everyone can tell.....:). We've hired a lot of talent as interns from BYU and I've been impressed with every single one of them.
