Maybe nobody wanted to follow Billy D with a weak roster.
Mike White is an excellent hire by Florida; he was a four starter at Ole Miss and has won more than 70% of the games he has coached as Head Coach at Louisiana Tech. White could prove to be another Donovan for Florida Basketball

I have no doubt he's a good coach, but for Florida to only pay $2m when the rest of the SEC is getting more serious about MBB, sounds like they're ok being middle of the pack.

And here I thought last year that if Florida or Texas opened up HCGM might be gone.

Nothing middle of the pack regards White's $2 million salary, although it is half of what Florida paid Donovan (after 2 National Championships and 20 years of service).

SEC Salaries as reported in March 2015 by Charlie Burriss:

        1 Calapari, Kentucky: $6.5 million
        2 Pearl, Auburn: $2.7 million
        3 Barnes, Tennessee: $2.25 million
4 Martin, South Carolina: $2.1 million
5 Howland, Mississippi State: $2.05 million
        6 Anderson, Arkansas: $2.03 million
7 Kennedy, Ole Miss: $1.8 million

I am happy that Florida went this route but am also very surprised. I really think they could have had a shot with Gregg next offseason if they would have hired Pelphrey or Grant as a one-year interim. It's their loss.

I'm not sure there was a better possible time for the Florida job to come open. I had Florida and Texas on my list of like 6 quasi-realistic options for Marshall, and they both came open and were filled with nary an interview this spring.

            Yahtzee.

and the longer he stays here, the more elite we get. We keep paying him more, winning more, embarassing more power 5's and eventually WSU will be recognized as a destination so people will stop calling. We may have sealed the deal with him this year, and who knows where this program will be by the time he retires.

Anthony Grant is going to OKC with Donovan. That sly dog...

Getting fired by Bama may have been the best thing that ever happened to him.

I getting very comfortable with the idea that Gregg will retire at WSU. AD's don't like to be disappointed and so unless someone is just really confident of their chances many will not even attempt to court him. We're happy, he's happy, all is good.

White's salary is "middle of the pack" if all one considers is annual salary paid but take a look at the head coaching experience each school receives for the salary they negotiated regards recent hires:

Johnson - Alabama - 11 years NBA Head Coach of two different teams

Pearl - Auburn - 23 years Head Coach of 4 different D1 teams

Barnes - Tennessee - 28 years Head Coach of 5 different D1 teams

Martin - South Carolina - 8 years Head Coach of 2 different D1 teams

Howland - Mississippi State - 20 years Head Coach of 4 different D1 teams

Anderson - Arkansas - 13 years Head Coach of 3 different D1 teams

                        White - Florida - 3 years Head Coach of 1 D1 School

White left the only head coaching job he had held earning $600,000 per year for Florida at annual salary of $2 million with bonus opportunities that match his L Tech Salary. IMO White received a vey rich package based on his resume.

I hear that there's a twitter campaign for LaTech to give their Assoc. Head Coach the head job, but any chance one of our assistants is a candidate?

Now there's a move I can get behind. That Iowa State AD may be onto something.

Iowa State interviewed several guys this weekend. One name that wasn't mentioned who interviewed, per source: NC Central's LeVelle Moton.
