In a day filled with stress, here is some much needed comic relief.

    Jeff *******
Michigan State assistant Dane Fife is in the mix at Green Bay, sources told ESPN. Former SIU coach Chris Lowery also on radar.

Sometimes you just need a good joke to take your mind off things.

George Mason hires the Bucknell coach.

      Couldn't they have done better?

I don't know where to put this but I have to say it. I believe Anthony Grant is a good coach who was hindered by circumstances at Alabama. For this reason, I think Texas needs to get a clue and hire HIM...as in Anthony Grant (even though I know this is dumb and would never happen).

There's just a really good reason why. If Anthony Grant succeeds at Texas and didn't at Alabama, all of Texas will LOVE the bragging rights...and I actually think he would succeed.

Utah State promoted their top assistant, Tim Duryea, to head coach. He coached several seasons at Hutch CC.

              Don't you mean Barles Charkley?

That name is turrible. It's like duryea of the mouth.

There have been a number of good HC's coming out of Hutch. The most famous one is Gene Keady, longtime coach at Purdue. He had been the coach at Dodge City High School and took the job at Hutch during the mid-to-late 60's.

Since Keady there has been Dave Farrar, Steve McLain and now Duryea who have all now been D1 head coaches.

All of you Kansans have a pretty extensive knowledge of Steve Eck, so I had to look him up to see what this guy was all about. I found out from the HCC media relations dept. that he was one helluva coach at Jardine Junior HS here in Wichita at one time.

Won several state titles at South HS, won a Juco NC while coaching in Oklahoma. Eck gets grief, a lot is deserved, but make no mistake he can coach.

I think Shaka can be successful in Texas, but I just get a bad feeling about the fit between those two from a culture perspective. I dunno. Wouldn't surprise me if he does very well the first few seasons and then starts to fizzle out.
