Well, there goes the theory that people show up for the beer. Nice of the NCAA to allow it, anyway.

Congratulations on another NCAA run and here's an opponent's tribute to the college careers of FVV and Ron Baker. May they enjoy many seasons of renewing their rivalry with Dougie in the NBA.

Since you have some experience winning in the NIT... If you make the quarterfinals, can you say you're an Elite Eight team? Asking for a friend.

      • Screw Creighton - they get lucky with a Big East invite and all of a sudden they are afflicted with delusions of grandeur. They also share a link to Providence's message board where those high and mighty Catholics have all sorts of nice things to say about WSU.

        • Stinging butt hurt in Providence. Bet they have zero idea we're 2-0 against their **** program.

            • Creighton played in post-season play? And drew 6,503 "fans". tha'tzs probably 6,502 who went ofr the beer and 1 that went to see the game.

If I hadn't checked this thread I would not have known they had a post-season game. I still don't know (or care) if they won or lost.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

              • I have thought about this for awhile and came up with this PERFECT analogy:

Creighton reminds me of an old-name kid growing up in a small town...hot $#!+ within that small town but totally lost when moving away to a big city...the stereotypical big fish in a small pond but a little fish in a big pond.

Meanwhile, WSU is the kid who was maybe deemed to be from the wrong side of the tracks but gets out of that small town and blossoms into a very successful adult. Yeah, the kid probably has a bit of an edge, but that edge is exactly what made the kid successful.

Yeah, Creighton was a power in the Valley, but it bears to be repeated that Creighton has NEVER won consecutive NCAA Tournament games. Creighton hasn't exactly set the Big East on fire either.

Meanwhile, WSU wasn't as successful in the Valley overall...particularly at Arch Madness...but put WSU in the NCAA Tournament and it has more than held its own. Ron and Fred weren't about to lose their last game by 30 points. **cough** DOUGIE **cough**

You would have to go all the way back to 1964 for Creighton to have as many wins in the Dance as Marshall and WSU have had in the last 4 years.

This year is the first time they have ever won back to back games in the NIT.

                    • I'd like to add that on their Wiki page they proudly tout an Elite Eight and 3 S16s.

Well, all their S16s came at a time when there were only 32 teams. So, you win the first game, you've got yourself an S16. I wonder if it still chaps them that WSU was the team that stopped them in in the next round in 1964, 84-68.

Oh, and the "Elite Eight". There were only 8 teams in the whole damn tournament and they lost in the first round.

Our section was pissed that we stood for defense in Dayton.

I'd say that's just plain sad and beyond desperate, but it'd be an insult to the words. Good Lord.

It sounds like it's mainly one tub-of-lard fan who has never been to a "real" college basketball game before. Have another Dunkin Donut buddy.

                            • I could see why standing at games wouldn't be a thing in the Big Priest. Hard to stand and maintain balance when every single person in attendence is drunk.
