Greg, as nice a guy as he seems to be, is an average coach, AT BEST.
He's entering his 15th season as a Division 1 head coach. He's been at 3 programs that are not anywhere near bad basketball schools. Sure, none of them are Duke or WSU, but they aren't Winthrop either.
Here's his D1 record:
270-188 overall and 122-122 in conference. .500 in conference.
Now, eliminate the anomoly which is his son Doug (whom he didn't even want at Iowa State, remember?) and let's see his record:
163-150 overall and 71-101 in conference.
Ugh. Anyone that's .413 in conference over 4 or 5 years probably isn't keeping their job. He's done it for 14. At 3 schools where any decent coach should EASILY win.Last edited by WuDrWu; October 14, 2015, 11:49 AM.

Greg will eventually get canned. At that time, when it happens, Evansville, Drake or some school of that variety needs to be ready and scoop him up as soon as possible. He may not be the greatest coach, but he'd be a step up for many programs in our league.

I dropped over to Bluejay Underground tp see their take on the pre-season pick. You can hear the crickets chirping over there.
There were a couple of posts complaining about one publication picking them #137, one post mentioning that Top 144 didn't list them at all, one post expressing the reality of being picked behind DePaul, and one post expressing the fact that the writers on the east coast are scarcely aware CU exists - and concluding - now we know what McDermott is up against when he's recruiting.
In case you're curious it's at http://www.bluejayunderground.com/vi...3715&start=270The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

ok, so now it "look what we're up against", whereas before, it was "look what we have to sell, it will be so much easier to recruit". They haven't yet accepted the fact that little McDermott was daddy's golden ticket and now the emperor has no clothes.

In the past, the Bluejays wore their defensive ranking on the back of their practice jersey as reminder to work harder on defense. This year, Creighton has announced the use of camouflage uniforms to fully adopt the mantra of "No one will see us coming!"

Yes but rest assured, Creighton will not enter the "abyss" or anything close to it. They have a sterling recruiting class to replace whatever production will be lost to graduation, a full arena, and a conference tournament in Brooklyn (high-fives with Jay Z included in travel package) to keep things rolling. Things are looking great from up here.

Yeah, but... you guys are totally ignoring the MVC to BE conversion factor. Ninth in the BE is at least equivalent to first in the MVC... AT LEAST! And if the top team in the MVC (that one with the likely top 10 AP/coaches/Kenpom/RPI, two AA players, etc.) came over to the BE they would be lucky to finish 12th.... LUCKY!
You guys are just jealous of the combination pep rallies - alcoholics anonymous meetings where the criteria for admittance is a sweater vest and a copy of your trust fund portfolio assets. JEALOUS!

I'd probably take the other Greg over coaches currently at Evansville and Missouri State, but other than that it's tough to make a case he's a better coach than many programs in the league.Attached Files"It's amazing to watch Ron slide into that open area, Fred will find him and it's straight cash homie."--HCGM
