In New Orleans, and let me add to the F KU bandwagon. Biggest bunch of douches down here. OSU fans took the loss with class. Still a lot of Louisville fans here also. The group i just drank a beer with are staying to root for kentucky (yes really) as they said every KU fan they have met has been a douchebag.

When asked about mu fandom and mention Wichita State, every person not a KU fam has commented how we got bad matchup but they were rootin for us. KU fans only menton choking. Mention they are lucky they avoided mid-majors. Other wise they wouldnt be here.

If UK ends up winning, the championship will get vacated anyways. I have no problem rooting for no winner over KU.

After hearing the constant Johnson County garbage run their mouths on how anything outside of the 3 county KC metro area is insignificant to them and the rest of the state is meaningless, why should I waste my support on a school/fan base that doesn't even consider us to be Kansans?

I regularly read both this board and kusports.com and there is no comparison in terms of how the two fan bases talk about each other. This is what a WSU thread looks like there:

(The search function there truly sucks so that was the most recent I could find but this is pretty par for the course.)

Even when there is a negative thread of some sort tons of people weigh in with pro-WSU posts and usually call out the original poster. I've never seen a thread there that even comes close the bile that is on here once a week. Compare that thread to this one and tell me again how they are the ones being jerks.

It is certainly a fair criticism that most KU fans know nothing about WSU but those that do are generally pretty positive.

If it is certainly fair that those in Hawkland know little to nothing about another D1 Program on thier own state, then why is it not fair for another top notch program, with more wins, titles, attendance, and final fours to comment positively about our team and Stutz, and

Owenc, normally you make some pretty fair and balanced posts, but you've got some pretty thin skin here. KU is an elite program, no doubt about it. They have every advantage in the world over WSU... tv exposure, money, numbers of alumni, conference, performance history, etc., etc. They can invoke the "KU aura" and walk into Wichita and pluck away the best players in Wichita whenever they want. Not a whole lot WSU can do and the only real way WSU would have a chance to make any headway in this situation is to actually play them in real games. KU of course knows this and will never play us, they have to keep us in our place. So they can sit up there and be all nice and patronizing and pat us on the head and tell us were good little mid majors, but for most of us Shocker fans, that just doesn't feel so good. This has been going on for about 70 years or so. Maybe if you were one of us, you might understand.

Thats because a good many of them never even attended KU. They wouldnt then be aware of the many times the flagship institution directly and indirectly via BoR screwed over WSU. Couple that with annual snubbings of basketball scheduling and what do you expect?

I will say that the ones that I know that DID attend KU actually do want to see the annual matchup. Its their crappy bandwagon fans that ruin it for them.

Well, if that is what you are looking for I suppose you can find it. kusports.com is pretty much the standard for Jayhawk basketball news. It is the Lawrence paper and by far the best place for KU news. The boards are heavily read and even have players on them from time to time. Far fewer idiots. Based on a quick search it looks like many of the WSU threads on those boards are started by people with "shocker" in their handle. That never goes well on any board I supposed.

What drives me to never root for KU is that they have cheated enroute to every accomplishment. Each national championship is severely tainted with cheating. They have been on probation in every decade for the past 50 years. They should have been nailed with 'lack of institutional control' just a couple of years ago but somehow avoided it. And the kicker is that their fans are either blind or ignorant. They either sweep it all under the rug or are truly ignorant. They truly believe that their accomplishments are based on merit but they are not. Their program was entirely built on cheating.
