I just don't understand non-BCS teams flocking to the Big Least, turning them into a non-BCS conference. They will lose their current standing, particularly after the next couple of teams (from Louisville, Cincinnati, and/or UConn) leave. Cincy took it in the shorts again today losing their coach to a real BCS team. That's 3 coaches who have recently left them like they are (and they are) a part of non-BCS conference.

The Big East is just getting crazy. Spread out from one coast to the other. Some only join for football, some don't play football at all. Some only play this, some only play that. What a mess. It's becoming like a big hodgepodge of teams with absolutely nothing in common. Sort of like the college sports conference equivalent to abstract art. Everyone is staring at it trying to figure out just what the hell it is.
Ironically, the Big East was formed specifically to be a premier northeastern basketball conference. But greed and BCS football are what's tearing it apart. I can't believe the northeast non-football schools like Georgetown, Villanova, Seton Hall, St. John's, and Providence, all of which (except Villanova) are founding members of the BE, would be happy with the likes of Houston, SMU, Tulane, and yet another Florida directional school, UCF. Maybe sooner or later those northeast teams will say to hell with this, and join with some of the eastern A-10 teams to form a new conference. Perhaps then the four western most A-10 teams could be lured into the MVC. We could still play a round-robin schedule, but in a much stronger MVC."Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

When texass seceeds from the union will they be allowed to participate in the ncaa or will they start their own tcaa and proclaim their sports champions World Champions? Texas is a great state but really there are more than a few that are a little too full of themselves.

That's very interesting. The idea has been thrown out there since all of this began, and maybe before, but I'd always heard that Georgetown and one other have been hesitant. If the money is falling off as drastically as is being reported, I could see this happening. Now, if we'd be considered or not is another story, but being in a conference with Creighton, Butler, Dayton, Xavier, Georgetown, Mason, VCU, Nova...
I could see that conference being one that would get plenty of exposure and have the ability to make a name for itself. We better inquire and see if we can work with CU to get in together if it happens.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

5 was my worst case scenario. I could definitely see half the league getting in and who knows, maybe a few more. Would be a very strong basketball conference. Georgetown, Nova, VCU, Xavier, Marquette, Creighton, Wichita, Dayton, Butler would all be in play every year. And a few of the others are capable. It would be a lot of fun and a hell of a fight. But at least the in conference games would mean something and actually help and a couple of losses wouldn't kill you.
Last years end of season RPI:
8 Marquette
12 Wichita
15 Georgetown
24 Creighton
31 Saint Louis
38 VCU
41 Xavier
68 Seton Hall
81 Dayton
82 Mason
116 Butler
119 Nova
156 Providence
158 St. John's
197 DePaul

If we get stuck in the MVC while CU and maybe even BU get a life line to a conference like the one above, I'd lead the charge to oust Sexton! He needs to be doing everything he possibly can to get us in on this.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Another advantage of this proposed conference would be scheduling. Maybe it'd take a couple of years to prove the conference is legit, I don't know, but with the success that would be found, scheduling bigger and better schools would be easier.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
