  • You laugh, and while I don't completely get it, Tulane had been a rumored potential add for the XII as well. Not one I gave a lot of thought to, but maybe they're more attractive based solely on location and academics. Now, just because the BE adds someone doesn't mean that the XII or someone else couldn't take them if they wanted them. I also believe that with this add, Boise and SDSU are more likely to bolt and stay west for everything.

And one thing I hadn't thought about, but if Boise has indeed burned bridges with the MWC, as some have speculated, them and SDSU could save the WAC by going there. Idaho may stay and NMSU would be happy. However, they'd still need to find a few more football playing schools to pull that off and that's where that idea may die. I think they'll both end up in the MWC and guarantee that NMSU is left out and ready to be picked up by someone else (MVC).

    • Also sounds as if ECU will be placing their other sports in the CAA.

        • Sounds like Louisville has been voted into the ACC by the schools.

I'm still hoping this will happen. NMSU would fit in very well for basketball and baseball. They have needed to drop down a level in football for years. I would hate to see the Aggies drop football completely. WSU has shown how difficult it is to get football back once it is gone.

            • This is gonna get crazy again. Is there any truth to the Kansas and UNC to the B1G rumors?

              • I'm a HUGE proponent of the Valley bringing the Aggies into the fold. The eastern teams would throw a fit and the whole "travel partner" thing is complicated. However, they'd be a great asset as basketball could compete in the upper half for sure and I believe baseball is pretty strong as well. I don't follow that as closely but I've heard good things. I know Las Cruces and Denver aren't exactly close, but think that would have been a nice combo. I can't think of any Texas teams in the western portion of the state that would help either. But I think the travel partner thing is nice, but not something that should keep someone out. I believe El Paso is pretty easy to fly into and the bus ride from there to Las Cruces isn't all that bad. We could make it work. It would only strengthen the Valley. And if travel is too big of a concern, perhaps Evansville and the others can piss off and join the Summit. I'd trade Evansville for Denver.

I haven't heard those yet, but it wouldn't surprise me that they're out there. When the XII was looking to fall apart, many believed the B1G would take in KU. They've also eyed UNC, Virginia, UConn and Georgia Tech I believe. The B1G isn't going to do anything without thoughtful consideration though and I think the SEC may wait for them to go to 16 before doing so themselves. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

                  • It appears that CUSA is adding two more. Middle Tennesse (not surprised) and Florida Atlantic (a little surprised).

Now we're waiting on the BE and SB to make moves...

                    • That is a crushing blow for UConn, seemed like everyone thought it was a given they were the ACC's #1 choice and that UL and Cincy might get invited along if the conference felt like dealing the BE a death uppercut.

Eff em, anyone who sheltered Al Qaeda loving Lew Perkins after what he did to our football program deserves to be left in the cold, right?

The WAC is dead, BE is collapsing and CUSA is quickly becomming blatantly mid-majorish. Somehow, this actually seems encouraging for the MVC. I wonder if there's any chance in hell the MVC could make a bold move like Tulsa-NMSU-Denver-UTEP, then split into two divisions. That might placate the weak sisters of the east.

Has that been confirmed? I've seen the rumors, but the last I saw the NMSU AD said there have been zero discussions between them and CUSA. And if they did add NMSU, UTEP would probably bolt to the MWC immediately. I hear that they want nothing to do with NMSU. WKU wouldn't be a horrible add.

I wish, but we aren't landing those schools because they still have FBS football. NMSU was/is an outside shot as they don't have a conference for football just yet. Denver could be had, all we have to do is ask. They'd much prefer us over the Summit. Tulsa isn't coming back and UTEP has a home for football as well. Now, if CUSA did blow up, which I don't see happening, it's possible that the MVC could pick up a few.
