A 20-year-old woman divorcee accused of committing adultery in Somalia was stoned to death by Islamists in front of a crowd of about 200 people. A judge working for the militant group al-Shabaab said she had had an affair with an unmarried 29-year-old man. He said she gave birth to a still-born baby and was found guilty of adultery.

She was buried vertically up to her waste for the stoning. Her boyfriend was given 100 lashes. He was unmarried, thus merited the more lenient punishment.

The BBC reported this is thought to be the second time a woman has been stoned to death for adultery by al-Shabaab. Earlier this month, a man was stoned to death for adultery in the port town of Merka, south of Mogadishu. His pregnant girlfriend was spared, until she gives birth.

Accused Fort Hood Shooter to Have Military Trial, Will Face Death Penalty

The Army psychiatrist charged in the deadly Fort Hood rampage in Texas will be court-martialed and face the death penalty, Fox News confirms.

Maj. Nidal Hasan is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the November 2009 shooting spree at the Texas Army post.

It was not immediately clear when Hasan will be arraigned in a Fort Hood courtroom. He must plead not guilty based on the nature of the case, according to military law.

Hasan's lead attorney, John Galligan, had urged the commanding general not to seek the death penalty, saying such cases were more costly, time-consuming and restrictive. In cases where death is not a punishment option for military jurors, soldiers convicted of capital murder are automatically sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.

Galligan told Fox News on Wednesday that it has long been the "intent" of the Army to treat Hasan this way. He also said he was "surprised" and "disturbed" that the news media learned of the decision before he and his client did.

Two Army colonels who reviewed the case previously recommended that Hasan be tried in a military court and face the death penalty.

The FBI in San Diego had been investigating al-Awlaki, a former San Diego resident, for his possible connections to the 9/11 hijackers. When agents saw emails between Hasan and al-Awlaki, they asked the FBI's Washington office to talk to Hasan's bosses, according to a government official briefed on the findings who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly about the Webster report. But the Washington agents thought that interviewing American Muslims who visit extremist websites was a sensitive issue and did not reach out to Hasan's bosses at the Defense Department, the official said.

"It shows you the length of the political correctness stuff going on," McCaul said after he was briefed on the findings of the independent review Wednesday.
