Perhaps this is tripping you up: When I write about this "messianic" phenomenon not being isolated I am writing about it in general and this as the “latest example”. I thought we all live in the same country so it was unnecessary to itemize specific examples especially to anyone who tends to be more progressive. Please note – what follows is far from exhaustive:
A Newsweek editor referred to President Obama as a “god.” Chris Matthews, famously (or infamously) claimed physical ecstasy when the President speaks. I recall a Washington Post reporter swooning over Obama’s “chiseled pectorals” which is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the press fawning over the Presidents physical attributes. I described an “alter” to the President in a large Barnes & Noble in Manhattan in a different thread – and I just described one such store front. Now, of course, I am not mentioning the coffee mugs, tee shirts, beach towels, etc. – I suppose these people are just trying to make a buck. I could go on but I don’t have the time or the inclination.
I thought the issue of whether the United States of America would have a king or queen was settled a long time ago. I am sorry but this does not sit well with me.
