Political Sloganeering - "Equal work gets equal pay!" Sounds normal, if I lived in North Korea.

Obama/Jesus comparisons - "Red and yellow; black and white...they are equal in his sight." (Him being Obama). These lyrics may sound familiar to Sunday school alumni.

Forced fawning - "Hello Mr. President, we honor you today! ... Hooray Mr. President, you are number one!"

No matter how you slice it, this spectacle is totally inappropriate.

I’m sorry but this video is disturbing on a number of levels. There is a strange cult of personality surrounding Obama – this is just the latest example.

Lest there be any doubt: I dislike cults of personality, and I’m sure most other people do too. Such cults are especially startling in the United States, a republic and a home of individualism, at least in theory. I’m not in favor of creepiness over someone I support any more than I am in favor of creepiness over someone I don't. There is a difference between healthy appreciation for a leader, or gratitude for him, and something like secular worship.

It should not be necessary to make these elementary points, but I guess it doesn’t hurt.

One has to feel sorry for this diverse group of children having this type of BS crammed down their throats.......and wonder how many other schools are doing the same.

For the most part I agree. However in a world where the extreme left is at war with the extreme right, you take whatever ammunition you can get your hands on. The problem is that the majority of us are caught in the middle, just so happens thats where the majority of the casualties occur.

What I find strange is that some people defend this type of conduct or feel it is trivial. It is certainly not.

I’m not sure why it is necessary to force children to recite political slogans during black history month – or any other time for that matter. Furthermore, what does verbal sycophantic and worshipful gesticulation toward a single individual have to do with black history month? I can think of a multitude of other more suitable avenues for discussion including, but not limited to, President Obama’s historic election.

This doesn’t have or should not have a single thing to do with what your political leanings may or may not be. If you permit your political bias to color your opinion of this matter – that is your problem. This was inappropriate, period.

Unfortunately, I was not alive during the Eisenhower administration. I can only assume, based upon your comment, that neither situation is objectionable to you; however, you are deliberately (I suspect) missing the point.

Seriously, can you distinguish between a pledge of loyalty to a nation(a republic), looked after (I hope) by a higher power, and the worship of an individual? Are you implying that President Obama and God are one and the same? If so, you would not be alone albeit terribly and sadly misguided.

As an aside, if you actually took the time to read what I wrote, the adulation of President Obama forced upon these children by “educators” was not my only objection to this little ditty – although I do object strongly. This messianic trend is not isolated and, frankly, I would think (and I hope) even those that would otherwise support the President's policies would be embarrassed. :(
