I hope the Democrats look to simply annoint Hillary! I'm not saying she can't win, but she isn't the candidate many on the left believe she will be. You are right. 3 years is a long time in politics. Just because she looks like the front runner now doesn't mean that is how she will look 3 years from now. Remember 8 years ago, Obama wasn't anywhere near the front runner at this point.

Chris Christie or Marco Rubio or Rand Paul could end up looking good 3 years from now. Christie is about to win in a land side in a blue state. Or someone that is not even on people's radar screens could end up winning. 3 years is an eternity in politics.

I think it is less about the action than the reaction. We reacted entirely differently to Benghazi than we did to every other similar incident without a lot of reason. IE, we don't talk about Calcutta, Karachi, Denpasar, Islamabad, Riyadh, Tashkent, Jeddah, Karachi (again), Damascus, Athens, Sana'a, Istanbul, or Sana'a (again). Those were 13 embassy attacks that were NOT scandals. This does not include attacks on Baghdad during the Iraq War. Note that two of these cases were attacked multiple times, yet we didn't cause a scandal over the fact that the government didn't provide extra security after the first attack.

So why the scandal over Benghazi and not any of the numerous attacks before? Politics. That is the only explanation for Benghazi being a huge scandal and the other incidents getting swept under the rug. That isn't to say that an attack on a US embassy shouldn't be a scandal, but that in the past we've never treated it as such.

There was intelligence that Al Quaeda was planning something and then when something happened they did nothing with the asset they had in the region and then tried to cover it up . They tried to blame the attack on some youtube video and won't come clean. This adminstration has it head up the Muslim Brotherhood azz so far Washington reeks of it.

You are right - America is a very superficial place and looks do matter to a lot of people.

Hillary is one very unattractive woman and in 3 more years will have a Madeline Albright look to her. That alone will kill 10% of her potential voting block.

Besides, how many times do you think the GOP will run the infamous "We landed under sniper fire" clip where she was just walking along just fine. No snipers were seen for miles.
