though I actually thought corker got the better of this one - the adult day care tweet was funny and the President seems unable to up his game beyond basement-level low brow. needs to hire a staffer with some wittiness.

SB Shock is right, everyone that takes on Trump seems to eventually come out the loser. Just ask Roger Goodell and the NFL. Roger has done a 180 on this after initially opposing Trump. The NFL players thought they could show Trump they could do whatever they wanted, but they will all be standing soon, just like Trump wanted...Last edited by shockfan89_; October 11, 2017, 09:00 AM.

Trump is right that Corker wanted to be Secretary of State, Trump is right that Corker can't win re-election without Trump's support. I think it is funny that Trump even challenged Corker to run again if he thought he could win. Trump assured Corker he would be primaried if he did.

Trump, lie as he may, now has Schumer cornered. Schumer can choose to fully fund the wall and give Trump more tools/money to battle illegal immigration (including abolishing sanctuary cities) or Schumer can turn his back on the DACA folks he, and the public feel deserve leniency. Remember, it is up to Congress to act on DACA so now Schumer and Republicans will have to work together. This appears like another win for Trump.
What then? Oops, wrong thread...

I guess someone could try to give credence to the arm twisting on tax breaks, but that's kind of a weird proposition isn't it - tax incentives which are obviously dubious are only bad if owners don't crack the whip on their players, but if they do so, then nothing to see here? Again, it's all about the $$$$ there too.
Causation doesn't really work as you assert IMO.

Happy to bet some SASO scrilla as to whether the ban on all federal aid to any city that limits its cooperation with the fed gov to enforce immigration laws is implemented in the eventual legislation. As with most promises from this administration and most others, it is posturing for his base and will be swept by the wayside.

As far as the NFL, it is true the ratings are down. It is not true that they are down because of a boycott or the kneeling issue. Ratings were lowest week 1 and have improved each successive week through the kneeling controversy. And they've been dropping since long before this season; 2016 saw significantly higher drop-offs than 2017 has. Ratings are down because less people are watching TV, and not just football. Less people are watching baseball, comedy shows, Dancing With the Stars, etc.
As far as Schumer goes, I think that was last week's news. We are about 3 controversies removed from the public caring about the Schumer-Trump talks. In this presidential reality show, rehashing old stories just bores the audience rather than evoking a strong reaction.

@Play Angry:, you are citing reports that did not come from Fox News. You are using those sources to counter something reported on Fox News. You are involved in this conversation with someone who gets all the news they ever need from Fox News. That person is probably of the opinion that all non-Fox reports are fake news.
You cannot even be considered part of the discussion with the person you are replying to.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Corker would be a heavy favorite for reelection.

If what you say about the NFL is true, why is the trend towards making the players stand? The NFL is losing viewers and it is likely they know how much of that is due to changes in technology and how much of that is due to boycotts and the kneeling issue. The NFL is choosing to take action regarding the kneeling issue. Maybe that's because they can't do much about technology or maybe it is because the kneeling issue had a bigger impact than they anticipated it would?Last edited by shockfan89_; October 11, 2017, 12:38 PM.

The fact that they now see ratings and merchandise hitting them where it hurts is the genesis of the change of heart in the C-suites.
