The US is on high alert and actively preparing for a “significant” attack that could come as soon as within the next week by Iran targeting Israeli or American assets in the region in response to Monday’s Israeli strike in Damascus that killed top Iranian commanders, a senior administration official tells CNN.

Senior US officials currently believe that an attack by Iran is “inevitable” – a view shared by their Israeli counterparts, that official said. The two governments are furiously working to get in position ahead of what is to come, as they anticipate that Iran’s attack could unfold in a number of different ways – and that both US and Israeli assets and personnel are at risk of being targeted.

The U.S. has picked up intelligence that Iran is planning a retaliatory attack that would include a swarm of Shahed loitering drones and cruise missiles. Officials say the timing and target are unknown, but a proportional response to the Damascus attack would be to hit an Israeli diplomatic facility. The attack is likely to come between now and the end of Ramadan next week.

I’m hearing troops have received orders to Ukraine and Israel. There are major war “exercises” going on in Alaska right now. Huge munitions movements between Greeley and JBER are happening daily, and a few weeks ago they set up a temporary base at the intersection of the two major highways. Either they are preparing for an attack or preparing to defend themselves or both.

Iran has made their attack. Supposedly, 100+ drones (some media are reporting 100+ have been intercepted by U.S. and Brits). Based on Iran's statement to the U.N., it looks like it is a face-saving attack. Iran says if Israel doesn't respond, then it is over with.

The question now will be whether any get through and what damage is done. If ballistic missiles were launched, all bets are off.

Israel initial response was:

Israel's Channel 12 has told residents "not to go to bed yet" because an unprecedented attack on Iran is coming, according to an official.

The country's war cabinet has approved a "powerful response on Iranian soil".

I would expect the US is trying to do everything possible to stop the "unprecedented attack"

President Joe Biden will convene the other G7 leaders on Sunday to coordinate a "united diplomatic response to Iran's brazen attack," according to a statement from the White House on Saturday night.
