Ushering of the next generation is nigh. You gotta hope the son wants to make a splash in Wichita.

If someone bought us a brand new football stadium and we still couldn't figure out a way to put a team in it, then we deserve everything we get.

A legit FBS-sized stadium would offer many opportunities for Wichita to host events it could never have dreamed of before.

I think Bardo left to his own would have forged a path forward on the resurrection of football, back those six or seven years ago. Unfortunately, he was persuaded otherwise by the guy who also didn't think it was worthwhile to look into NIL. Our former AD who at this point you can reasonably guess put the bare a** minimum into the idea of WSU football, and came away with the conclusion that, "shucks, this won't work". Almost like the scientific method in reverse. Boatright didn't want football, and he got his way. Boatright didn't want NIL, and he got his way and a packing slip.

Meanwhile, schools with such major brand cache and athletic value such as Georgia State, Old Dominion, USF, UTSA, Keneesaw and others I'm probably missing, figured out how to get it done with far less belaboring and drama as the issue carries with it in Wichita. Weird, right? We are special that way in Wichita. When others think big, long-term, and get sh*t done, we are small-minded isolationists. WSU football is analog for the vibe of the Wichita metro as a whole. It's not an accident that on the interstate of municipal progress/expansion/development our peer cities like Omaha, Des Moines, Tulsa, Little Rock, Colorado Springs and others have their cruise set at five over and are making their way down the road, whereas we are on the shoulder with our flashers on doing 5 MPH in limp mode.

You're forgetting, ignoring, or out of touch with just how awful the current MVC actually is. We may be in a rickety lifeboat, but at least we're not rotting at the bottom of the North Atlantic.

Oh I'm definitely out of touch. So I went and looked at last year's conference RPI rankings? Do they still use the RPI?

We were 3 spots below CUSA last year.

So, if we lose a bunch of schools and backfill again, yeah... we'd end up hoping we were in as good of a basketball conference as the MVC.

We need a Saint in the front of our school's name, and we need it like yesterday.

The rank doesn't matter, the product of the RPI calculation does. In that respect the MVC is as far behind the AAC as the BE is above us.

Have to see how the new AAC shakes out. We lost some legit, historical programs, but gained the cream from RPI-superior CUSA.

No. They don’t still use RPI… for anything.

NET and KenPom have AAC MILES ahead of MVC, and ahead of last year’s CUSA, of which we already took the best teams.

                      NET: AAC - 7, MVC - 11, CUSA - 13

                      KenPom: AAC - 8, CUSA - 10, MVC - 16

Sadly, the stadium is just a drop in the bucket in regards to cost. The real cost comes in the expense of the day to day operations of a program AND the two additional women's sports (see non-revenue), that would need to be added.

I don't think it's a drop in the bucket. Once built, it also creates an opportunity for various ways to generate revenue. The projections for running a football team, back when THE Bardo was talking about it, was in the single digit millions I think. Getting a new stadium built is the biggest hurdle.

I've got your two women's teams in mind: Madden NFL and Call of Duty. They get a t-shirt and a scholarship. Title IX done.
