McConnell is an easy case to agree on, as is Joe Biden, and Dianne Feinstein. However, Charles Grassley is 90 years old, is as sharp as a tack, works as hard as anyone. He gets up at 4 AM and runs two miles every day. Depending on who runs against Grassley, he likely would be the best candidate. Any law would have to be crafted perfectly, and imo, there would have to be bi partisan agreement on this issue. Bi-partisanship is almost an impossibility to have. I would like to hear from some lawyers but it would probably take a Constitutional Amendment, to make it air tight so the courts wouldn't vote it down.

It just takes one elderly person with a solid mind to make a strong argument and stop a law.
maybe I’m missing something but don’t we already have term limits? President, 2 terms? Are you questioning if that’s legal?

There is a Constitutional Amendment for the establishment of presidential term limits. Case law has shown that Congressional term limits would take a constitutional amendment.

I used to be a firm believer that I could go into any town’s chamber of commerce event, grab a random person x 535 and vastly improve the makeup of congress. With party polarization and sorting filtering down to the local level I’m less sure, but still pretty sure.

Last night I had a dream that I was running for Congress. My campaign slogan?

"I may not know what I'm doing, but I can't **** it up any worse!"

People moving to areas where their neighbors are more likely to be like them in terms of lifestyle and politics. So if I picked someone random from San Francisco and someone from rural Texas 30 years ago they most likely would have skewed left or right, but possibly more moderate or even cross-party. Try to find a Democrat in rural west Texas or a Republican in San Francisco today. Basically a natural gerrymander or a reinforcement of existing gerrymanders. More conservative Californians moving to Texas and young Millenials and Z’s moving to the cities after college are examples.

Interesting, I have never heard that term used in that context.
