    • It appears the Dems are stuck with Biden. Various reasons, but $$$$ is probably the biggest as Biden's campaign cash is non-fungible. Well, I suppose they could find a way around that. I mean, for democracy and all.

Maybe they will replace Kamala under the guise that the new guy will assume office after they take office.

All they have to do is pay Kamala VERY WELL to not run for reelection if Biden steps down. She can appoint whoever she wants as Veep (which means part of the negotiation is that the Dems can tell her who to appoint), and then the appointed person will receive 100% of the funds.

It's not that difficult of a path if they buy off Biden to step down and then buy off Kamala to not run for reelection. Part of buying off Biden is guaranteeing Kamala and her appointment will pardon the Bidens whenever requested to do so. That's probably the most difficult part of the equation -- deciding who the appointment should be and making sure they are obligated to pardon the Bidens.

            • Kamala sounds dumber than Joe. But she will probably get more votes.

              • Could someone please explain to me how the cases against Trump, specifically the 34 felonies in NY, have anything to do with the S.C. ruling on Presidential immunity? If I am hearing correctly, the immunity only applies to official acts by the president. How does paying off porn stars qualify as an official act? Not saying the convictions are legit, but trying to see how these cases against Trump are now moot because of the S.C. ruling.

I don't think it has much impact on the hush money case, but Trump's team is arguing some items that were presented as evidence should not have been allowed:

Ahead of the trial, Trump's lawyers asked that the judge overseeing the case limit certain evidence based on Trump's immunity claim. The evidence -- a government ethics form disclosing the reimbursement at the center of the case, and Trump's social media posts from his official Twitter account in 2018 related to an alleged "pressure campaign" against his former lawyer Michael Cohen -- was admitted into evidence during the trial after Judge Juan Merchan rejected the immunity argument as "untimely."

"The Court declines to consider whether the doctrine of presidential immunity precludes the introduction of evidence of purported official presidential acts in a criminal proceeding," Merchan wrote in an April decision.

In a letter to the Merchan on Monday -- described by sources to ABC News -- Trump's lawyers argued that the verdict should be thrown out because the jury saw evidence that should have been protected by Trump's immunity for official acts.
That is from this article: https://abcnews.go.com/US/supreme-co...y?id=111582035

Which discusses how the SCOTUS ruling might impact the four major witch hunts against Trump.

                  • I've said more than once that I don't like being that "conspiracy" guy, but my radar is pegged right now. Judge Merchan has been one sided in his handling of this case since Day 1 with almost no variance. All of a sudden, he delays the sentencing, kind of on his own, saying he'll rule in September and if it matters, he'll sentence Trump later that month.

I have a hard time believing he's suddenly going to see the light and apply what is, at best, an obscure part of a ruling that's going to favor Trump? That just seems, I don't know...a bit too convenient. More likely is he will delay the sentencing until he can put Trump under house arrest until the election. I want to believe our judicial system can be blind and apply the law correctly, but it's getting more and more difficult to do just that. Hope I'm off base.

I have the same question. That would certainly seem to fall outside of presidential immunity. Not that I don't expect the case to be overturned at some point on its merit.

Trump asked for the delay, Judge Merchan granted it.

They will put Kamala on every magazine cover. We will see the lamest puff pieces trying to make her seem normal. It will be like nothing we have ever seen.

                            • Man, the Dems are going to have one helluva October surprise this year.

Not ruling out a crisis on the level of a war. Something that might even allow them to call for delaying the election altogether. Not that it will be valid, but they will do something really drastic. Anything to stay in power.

                              • If Kamala chooses Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Jew, as VP, it would be a tough ticket. (not that she would do the choosing.)
