An interesting challenger to Whipple officially entered the race yesterday. Lily Wu has quite the early following of people from around the spectrum.

I'm not a Wichitan. I'm not a fan of Whipple. I'm not a fan of Celeste Racette. I don't know enough about Bryan Frye or Jared Cerullo off the top of my head to have solid opinions on either. But Wichita can definitely do better than Whipple and at this point, Wu has said the right things. I'll be interested to see how this plays out as she and the others get going and what things look like heading into August.

I no longer live in Wichita either, and have no knowledge of any of your candidates. But all to often people don't go vote in these elections, only to turn them over to a bunch of special interest activists.

Please don't let that happen to Wichita. That is still my home that gave me a fantastic life while I was there. Austin was great for a while, but they are now controlled by these activist city council and mayor.

Other candidates that have filed or said that they have intended to run include incumbent Mayor Brandon Whipple and Lily Wu. Julie Rose Stroud, Anthony Gallardo, Celeste Racette, Tom Kane and Shelia M. Davis (Rainman) are the current candidates listed by the Sedgwick County Election Office.

Advance in-person voting begins July 17 for the primary election. Primary Election Day will be August 1.
