We visited with some Missionaries (from northern Brazil at the Venezuelan border) yesterday, and they were talking about the collapse of Venezuela, which is resulting in a refugee crisis in Northern Brazil. They said that Socialism is the root cause of most of the problems in Venezuela. Obviously, the government and businesses didn't deversify enough, and depended on oil too much, but the main cause was still Socialism.

Looking back, Twenty to Thirty years ago, Venezuela was a Democracy, and rich (mostly, because of oil), flourishing country. The people had good jobs, and worked hard. Then corruption, Socialism, and Totalitarianism (under Maduro) slowly took root. The government started to fail the people, and gradually took over the Means of production in the country. Oil prices and the economy steadily declined, and the government began to give the people more and more welfare money (instead of working for it). 5-10 years ago, because of a lack of government money, huge price stagflation, etc. they had to empty their prisons (many Venezuelan prisoners have come to America), and many people have begun to look for government handouts more than working for their income. Even in middle class neighborhoods, wives/mothers are often resorting to prostitution, and human trafficking, to make ends meet, and people often come to these missionaries and their churches for handouts.

Sound familiar? Coming to America? Joe Biden's, Bernie Sanders, and the Squad's (other Democrats are following their lead with the illegal immigration push) dream country?
