Please people, take the warnings seriously. This is not an infection you want to get. Let's do our part to lower the final number.

Use restaurant apps to purchase meals. Have your groceries dropped in your trunk. Get some projects finished around the house.

Wash your hands and don't touch your face.

It might be a good idea to procure a few n95 masks if you see a decent price on Amazon or somewhere. I've made several orders and are still waiting for them to arrive. I plan on giving them to my parents and my friends in healthcare. Would you believe that the State of Kansas is instructing healthcare workers to construct their own masks out of fabric? Are you afraid yet? I assure you my healthcare friends are. They are deathly afraid of our very lean healthcare system collapsing. Do you know what happens if it does? All the millions of people that visit the ER due to the hundreds of other "normal" issues (cardiac, pulmonary, trauma, etc.) face serious risk.

Please don't make me come on here again with all this overreaction bullshit. I really don't have the time.

    Good luck to you all!

I think there's some middle ground to a lot of this discussion but unfortunately the loudest voices are usually heard with the two extremes. You have the one extreme in shockingbuttrue that clearly is underselling this thing with some weird nonsensical points being made and then you have the other extreme where you have a guy in Cold that hasn't posted in months come surging into here and saying the world is gonna end. I think the actual results will lie somewhere in the middle.
I have read somewhere, sorry, it was a few weeks ago, that commented on smoking as an underlying condition. The jest of the article was that smoking was indeed a contributing factor in China. They were seeing a much larger number of men than women experiencing severe complications. They surmised that part of the difference was that so many more men than women smoked. I did try to go through my browsing history to find the article but was unable to come up with it

”It’s possible, several experts told The New York Times, that because Chinese men are more likely than women to be smokers, they could be hit harder than women. A World Health Organization study from 2019 found that 47.6% of Chinese men smoke, compared to only 1.8% of Chinese women. Women also generally mount stronger immune responses than men.”

COVID-19 is a new type of coronavirus that causes mild to severe cases. Here’s a quick guide on how to spot symptoms, risk factors, prevent spread of the disease, and find out what to do if you think you have it.

Just an aside, N95 masks are useless if not properly fitted and donned correctly. If you haven't been properly trained, they can be useless. Also, if you have facial hair, well they don't work. They work pretty well for someone that is clean shaven, properly trained and fitted.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

While all of the above is true for the mask to function as intended, I think you get some benefit from an improperly fitted mask.

Capitalism is great at a lot of things, but it produces externalities quite often. Our leaned out, profit maximizing (cost reducing), Master's of Health Administration, controlled health care system is a great example of an externality.

Minimal. All the while, depriving those working in the healthcare industry that are trained to use them and properly fitted, from having a supply.

OK, so here's my debate question: Do the people out here today think it's possible that enough Republican Senators have to quarantine b/c of Senator Paul that they give the Dems a majority (since we are apparently up to 3 now- Romney, Lee and Paul, at the very least)? And how will McConnell handle that one? Negotiate or allow the government to be shut down?

Note he has spoken out against tele-voting on bills.

I assume you're agreeing with me that panic in unnecessary. Thank you.

China: 81,093 infected. 72,703 recovered. 1,749 remain in critical condition. 3,270 deaths. They have basically flat-lined since 3/1/20. No new cases reported (for whatever that's worth). These are aggregate numbers since 1/22/20.

USA: 41,569 infected. 39,838 in mild condition. 504 deaths.

Without getting personal, cause I really don't want to have to go there, these numbers need no analyzing. Draw your own conclusion:

                      numbers-3-21.jpg

Are any of these documented numbers confusing or hard to penetrate? I would hope not, but...

Inevitably, my stance is in line with this guy's, due to the existing numbers:

"We can't let the cure be worse than the problem" - PDJT (don't anyone get rtiggered)

Does all of that factual data clarify my stance Fever?

If you're interested in the potential financial impact of Covid-19, watch last nights 60 Minutes interview. Worth 13 minutes of your time.
Last week I was opposed to a trillion+ government bailout; I have changed my mind... don't think we have a choice.

Fed official uncertain how economy will fare during the coronavirus

The alternative (socialism/communism/fascism) all produce externalities as well. I think the question is what externalities do you want to deal with.

                              Don't blame the messenger.

I'm just putting out numbers, and there are other sources, that are documented, and not projected. I've gotten blow-back on this board because of so doing. I will continue to do so. No where did I say safe measures are not needed or this disease is a fraud. I'll leave the projecting of numbers to the -ahem- experts on this board.

Anything I add to the conversation is, hopefully, known facts. Some members on this board deserve every bit of insulting in return with which they dish out.
