DeJesus wasn't going to be a part of KC's future, so I'm not surprised by the trade. I haven't looked closely at the players received, but I admit to being somewhat disappointed in the return.

However, the thing to remember is that DDJ only has a year left on his contract and while he was certainly one of KC's better players, he's only a little better than average at his position.

This trade frees up more payroll. I think we need to wait to see how next year's team comes together before making a final judgement. Will what we get (either production or from subsequent trades of the players received) have more long-term effect than one year of DDJ or what he might have fetched in a trade deadline deal (and 2-month rentals aren't as valuable as they were 5+ years ago)?

I haven't run the numbers in awhile, but compared to other corner outfielders I don't expect his stats to be much better than average, particularly SLG.

He would compare much more favorably to center fielders.

Banny and Anderson cut. Wouldn't be surprised if they try to resign Anderson to a minor league deal. he pitched alright this summer.

Royals land A's Mazzaro in deal for DeJesus I guess time will tell how this one works out.

It's minor league, but single-A minor league.

I enjoy storm chasing but don't like it as a team name. Though I have to admit I think the mascots have a strange appeal. Who couldn't like a green guy with a weather vane on his head and a tornado nose?

If so, most weren't terribly excited about it last night on the news at the unveiling fiesta. I liken this result to what is going on the in the local political scene. 2% of the registered voters turned out to vote for our mayor, 98% of the voters complain and are currently collecting signatures to recall him. At least only the 2% of the metro population who voted will show up at the new ballpark to watch the games. My vote? Recall the mascot.
