You can snip and clip at the stats you want to see, but when it comes down to it, the Broncos finished 8-8 and the Chiefs finished 4-12.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Quick assessment suggests that the Chiefs enter the offseason on a relatively high note, and with a good draft, could be in position to finish 8-8 next year.
I would submit that it's the first time in a long time that a Chiefs fan could say that, and be truthful to himself.

I'd like to see Haley hire an OC that he is comfortable with. It makes little sense for an NFL Head Coach to not use an OC, and call his own plays. The Head Coach can still put his stamp on the offensive game plan, but there are too many other things going on during a game that could distract from his attention to the offensive sequence.
FWIW, I feel the same about college football.

Maybe the butt kicking is "fools gold" for the Chiefs to make you think progress is being made when in fact they are not and they got to play a Bronco's team that is regressing? Or if Bronco fans are happy with their team then maybe truly KC is making progress. It would be interesting to know what Bronco's fans thought are on it?
I'd also be interested in knowing what happened to Eddie Royal? One year wonder or just didn't jell with Orton? It's strange to see Gaffney as their 2nd best WR on the team.

At least it will make for interesting off season to actually see if Pioli is really any good and to see what Haley has learned (e.g. changes in staff).

Chiefs were horrible. Hire new coach. Double win total from last year. Stomp division rival on their home field in last game and look forward to Pioli drafting with high picks.
At the end of the day, in the NFL, all that matters is the playoffs. Neither made it this year and I remain unconvinced that the Broncos will be their before the Chiefs. The fact that man is master of his actions is due to his being able to deliberate about them.-- Thomas Aquinas

This year, the Chiefs played AFC North teams and NFC East teams. Next year, they'll play a different rotation of AFC and NFC division teams. The remaining games to fill in, the NFL does it's best to schedule opponents which had as close to similar records to them last year. So this year they played Jacksonville and Buffalo which were both 8-8 last year. The NFL did not want to schedule the fill-in games for KC by having them matchup with teams that were upper tier last season. They want to keep parity as much as possible.
Denver's fill-in games this year were Indy and New England. Since Denver had a better record than the Chiefs last year, the NFL gave them harder teams to play this year for the fill-in games since Denver was the better team.
This is the beauty of the NFL, they try to keep everything equal. This can't be said for MLB however.
