Do you realize who ironic your post is?

Repbulicans have differening views on the stimuls and other things too. I believe that is the opposite of groupthink.

    So ?

They're growing farther apart on the spending bill as it keeps getting bigger. By next week I'm sure it'll be over a trillion. And Obama is trying to use scare tactics to push the bill through so he can expand and already oversized gov't.

"He rejected the argument that more tax cuts are needed in the plan and that piecemeal measures would be sufficient, arguing that Americans made their intentions clear in the election.

"I reject these theories, and so did the American people when they went to the polls in November and voted resoundingly for change," he (Obama) wrote.
Apparently much of the public rejects these 'theories' that are in the stimulus bill now. 8)

Wow 500 million a month. That's funny being that the CIA puts the US population at aprox. 300 million.

Those of you who have read some of my recent posts, have a very good idea that I believe Obama's ideas are bad for the country. I have very little or no respect for him, because of his lack of accomplishing anything. He is however, very good at reading a teleprompter...so here is some advice for his speechwriters. If BO wants to be viewed as a strong leader, he needs to first gain control of his own party...if he has the sack for it. If he wants to pursue a socialist agenda as I and others have warned and he has indicated is his inclination...now is not the time to do it, not under the guise of "stimulus". What he should do is...let the dem's pass the bill they want, the GOP is not needed, then veto it, send it back and tell them to get the pork and other earmarks out of it. As much as I don't like his politics, he would then earn a measure of respect from an old soldier that he is willing to risk political capital to LEAD. This will likely never happen since COS Emmanuel has been on record stating...never let a "crisis" go to waste....you can get more done than you ever imagined with the help of a crisis...! I paraphrased him but that is the gist. Mr. Obama needs to get specific with what he views as wasteful spending and what is stimulus. He needs to show some leadership. If the current bill is such a good deal, why don't the dem's just pass it without GOP support and then take all the credit for the success and all the heat for failure.....? The answer my Shocker friends is.....FEAR! They know it won't work and they want republicans fingerprints on it also for political cover.

No need to rant about it on tv, radio, & message boards. Just let the thing pass & let those that voted for it take on the chin the next round of elections.

Oh Johnnie, Johnnie, Johnnie...you showed your intelligence level as soon as you said "if he has the sack for it"...move out of your parents' basement, then get back to me.

I in the meantime will be thanking Obama for my $15k tax credit for a new house...I recommend you do the same.

Marty, "Sack" is slang for "courage" in the manner that I used it. Sadly, this is something that has been in short supply for many if not most politicians for years now. As for your basement comment....I can probably fit your house, and several others in my own basement without any further help from my wonderful parents. That doesn't make me any better or smarter than others, it might however, indicate that I have been able to enjoy some of the "fruits of my labor". I put my capital at risk and have been able to gain some reward...."what a country"....It will be a shame if these kinds of dreams are stifled at the hands of socialism. :yahoo:

I don't think Obama is the guy to thank for that. Pretty sure that was the Republicans and the Dems conceded to it to get the stimulus passed and gain some favor with the conservatives.

Taking a $1 trillion dollars from the public to give back $1 trillion back to the public is freaking nuts.

                            There is no stimulus.

It amazes me that we can not learn from the mistakes of Hoover and FDR.

I would like to hear some of the left leaning members of this board defend the “stimulus” package as passed by the House of Representatives.

I doubt President Obama would have won the election if he had proposed increasing government spending to such a large extent in a single bill. I seem to recall, then candidate Obama, pledging that for every increase in spending he would require a corresponding cut to match the increase. What happened?

Furthermore, what is wrong with taking a few weeks or a month to sort this out and try to get it right? If it is, indeed, necessary in the first place.

P.S. JohnnieBallgame – I don’t want to be a complete jerk (and I am far from a grammar snob) but please learn to utilize paragraphs when you write. Not only do paragraphs exist to encapsulate a central idea but they also make prose easier to read. Therefore, your opinion is clearly expressed.
