Marvin Fong/The Plain DealerA bad economy won't prevent the Browns from tweaking their Berea facility to meet Eric Mangini's demands. CLEVELAND -- The Browns joined several other teams and the NFL office in laying off employees last month to streamline...
Waiting on Romeo: Former Browns coach Romeo Crennel is convalescing from successful hip replacement surgery and weighing an offer to become the defensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs are holding the position open for Crennel, who is waiting to learn exactly how long his rehabilitation process will keep him out. The Chiefs may have enticed Crennel a little bit more by trading for New England linebacker Mike Vrabel.
Whether or not Crennel accepts, he has decided not to remain with the Browns in an unspecified role offered by Mangini.
Crennel previously declined an offer to rejoin Charlie Weis as Notre Dame's defensive coordinator. Crennel and Weis were Belichick's coordinators during New England's three Super Bowl championship seasons.Follow me on twitter: https://twitter.com/Shox_KCfan

Staying with Croyle is losing proposition. He was hurt in college and he's been hurt in the NFL. He has done nothing to make you think he has a future as a starter. Only reason he's on the KC roster is because of salary cap implications.
Draft a QB? Going with Cassel is much less of a risk than drafting a QB since drafting a QB is hardly a well refined science and they don't help a team for several years at the earliest (and there are no Peyton's in this draft).
Thigpen is a little harder. Because he does seem to have some potential and seemed to be well liked by his teammate. But Cassel is taller and frankly you can compare what they did on the field. Thigpen upside looks to be limited.
Cassel had 7 games with 100+ QB ratings. Thigpen only 2. Thigpen knew he was auditioning for next year and he some of his worst games came at the end. He did not elevate his play. Meanwhile Cassel was playing to try get his team to the playoffs and helped them win 5 of their last 6 games.

What worried me about thigpen, and i was sure worried Pioli and Haley was Thigpen completely disappeared in the 2nd half of games.Follow me on twitter: https://twitter.com/Shox_KCfan

1. Not many teams have the cap space to trade for them
2. Not many teams are going to trade their youth (draft picks) for players that are getting old in NFL terms.
Now, I guess they could quit and choose to walk away, but I suspect they still want to make a living. It's also the NFL any team with the right additions and the right breaks can become a playoff contender.

Haley and Waters had a short meeting in a hallway, and Haley informed his guard that 22 people off the street could win two games in the NFL.

interesting development, that the bucs supposely offered their 1st and 3rd for the patriots in a 3 way trade that included Denver
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Patriots turned down a package from the Bucs in a possible three-way Matt Cassel deal that included a first- and third-round pick.
In this scenario, the Patriots would have received the picks, Denver would get Matt Cassel, and Tampa would get Jay Cutler. But there has to be more to the story. Why would the Patriots turn down better picks? One admittedly speculative guess is that the deal with the Chiefs was already verbally agreed to at this point, and the Patriots couldn't back out. Mike Vrabel, after all, was in Kansas City Friday.Follow me on twitter: https://twitter.com/Shox_KCfan

Jay Mariotti is demanding a NFL investigation into the "Sweeheart Deal".

Mariotti is just full of it.
People are just looking at the second round pick(which is nearly a first round pick).
Really, the Pats are getting rid of a 14.5 million back-up quarterback and an 6 million aging linebacker.
I think the deal does favor us a little bit. But, still it is a good deal for both sides.
Pioli is a wizard!
