DM has said recently that he basically has no payroll flexibility. If we're going to get help it's probably going to come through a trade, unless we make out like bandits in the arbitration hearings.

I've heard rumblings that Greinke is on the block, because Moore is shopping his biggest piece for the most return. If they trade Zack, my outlook on Moore will take a huge hit. You just don't trade a guy you've been montioring pitch counts on for his entire career. Great, we kept his arm strong for someone else.

I'll miss Grud, he was a good clubhouse veteran, but I think it's time to see if Callaspo can play day-in, day-out.

Trading Grienke would be a mistake.

Personally, I hope they do find a SS so Aviles can play 2B and Callaspo can be a utility guy.

Callaspo gets on base. The Royals need that. I'd rather have him at 2nd and Aviles at SS than get a typical SS (good glove, light hitter) or a 2B who struggles to hit .270.

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Royals are trying to lock up Greinke and Gordon.

The Royals, after making big offers to a number of prominent free agents last offseason, are now trying to save money so they can offer contract extensions to right-hander Zack Greinke and third baseman Alex Gordon. Greinke is two years away from free agency and Gordon four. Teams such as the Rangers have stopped calling about Grienke, but trade discussions could ignite if the Royals fail to lock him up long- term . .
