  • I look at this team much like the Shocker team with Howard and Burns and Co. How many games did that Shocker team lose becaues they were young and inexperienced? They lost a number of games they shouldn't have. The young guys will learn to win and how to finish games.

Thigpen has looked good so far. His decision making has been very good and his accuracy is much better than he'd shown earlier. I look forward to watching him develop more over the rest of the year. If he continues to look good, the Chiefs may be able to look somewhere other than QB with the first pick.

Yep! If Rhonde hadn't tripped and fallen about the time Tony went up for the pass they wouldn't have called it. Kind of like a push-off on a big man down low in basketball, it appeared he pushed off but the replays showed he didn't.

Everyone talks about the Tampa 2 and how tough it is so I was impressed to see Thigpen pass the ball as well as he did. He seems to be clicking with Bowe & Bradley, so I think they've found their #2 wideout finally.

Speaking of questionable coaching, who on earth called the screen pass on 3rd and 1 from the 4 yard line?!? They snapped the ball and I was screaming "why are you running backwards 15 yards on 3rd and 1!!!!" I know had it worked they'd say they were geniuses, but they were running the ball effectively to that point, you've gotta pound out 1 yard that close to the goal line!

I'd love to see Thigpen play well enough the rest of the year to pass on a top 5 QB pick and get an OL or DL instead, then pick up a young QB to groom later on based on what's there.

Yup i agree, Im kind of hoping a DE or a Middle LB for our first pick. Pat Thomas has to be the worst Middle LB i have ever seen. I wouldnt mind us getting that MLB from USC REY MAUALUGA i think his name is.

        • Thigpen could be an NFL QB. KC switched to an offense that was more to Thigpen's capabilities and may have caught some teams off guard.

I found it interesting that when KC can't play Peterson's players (Croyle & Johnson) and can't play Herm's game plan, they are competetive.

This makes 2 weeks in a row that the Chiefs have been beat late. I think part of that is the changes in KC's offense that other teams don't have good scouting on yet.

It also seems that KC's opponents are making better 2nd half adjustment than KC is making. Maybe KC doesn't have the personnel to execute in-game adjustments, but it seems more likely that Herm is getting outcoached pretty badly.

            • Wow didn't realize Patterson lost his job over the late NYJ TD, which that throw behind the WR is super tough to defend. Macklin's a good pickup, though, but I hope Leggett continues to get some time, he just let up for a split second and missed being able to tip that TD by a hair. He just needs some experience and could still be a good player IMO. Losing Flowers in the 2nd half really hurt in that game.

              • Had Patterson not continued to look into the backfield he would have been in position. The guy has shown some promise the past few years, but with the two rookie starters making up the future I'm glad they've brought in some veteran support.

                    • It's official, they are playing for draft pick. Edwards was worried they might actually win so he went for 2. Thigpen is making me look like a genius in 2 of my fantasy leagues. He's going to win me $500 if he keeps this up, since my other starting QB's didn't pan out.

                      • Marty, it was obvious it was the right call to go for 2. Our defense was depleted by injuries, so it they got they ball then i dont think there is no way we would stop them. I disagree with Herm on alot of things, but IMO he made the call by going for 2. I agree about Thigpen tho.

                        • I also agree that it was a great call by Edwards. Run an unorganized play and toss a predictable pass to Gonzales for the two. That makes it a guaranteed loss. A simple extra point and that was taking a risk in OT that the Chiefs actually might win the toss and.... gulp ..... the game.

                          Way ta think Hermie!

                          • Not like the Chiefs have much to lose.

If we win: Hey, we won a game.

If we lose: We're that much closer to a draft pick.

                            • Yep, you're 1-7, what do you have to lose? Plus as it was said if they'd lost the coin toss most likely SD would have gone down & won, just like last week. So with that memory so fresh it was the right call to go for it, had the DE bought on the play fake more the play would have had a better chance to work but he stayed home and made Thigpen retreat too far for it to be effective. Tip your hat to SD for defending the play well. Its crazy how the injuries keep piling up, losing Charles hurt the offense, and losing so many guys on defense, who were already filling in for injured players, made it practically impossible to stop SD. They played their butts off though and it was a great game to watch.

With all these close losses they're beginning to look like a possible come back team next year that could make a big turnaround. Right now Thigpen is primarily throwing underneath with an occasional deep throw, but the more he plays hopefully the more they open it up. I'm more impressed each game with his arm strength and decision making, and that gives me hope for the future!

                              • i thing i noticed thigpen does well that brodie never did is look off the safety. It seemed like Brodie stared down his wr way too much, and i hardly notice thigpen hardly does that. I may be wrong, but i think we may be another good draft class and a couple of Free agents pick ups from being a decent team. The injuries are just killing our defense. The first 2 picks i would make in the draft are De and a good MLB.
