Shoot, my money was on "we turned the ball over and gave it away" as the excuse! ;) Or the ever popular Yogi-ism "you wouldn't have won if we had beaten you." :D Its all good, you enjoyed posting in our misery so now you get a little back!

In this case, for KC, 1 game means everything. To get the winless streak monkey off their back, to give the fans something to cheer about, to give the players some hope, this was huge. A win like this gives those young players some confidence that yes they can play in this league, after stinking it up against 2 pretty sorry teams. Other than a couple plays the D really played well, and it was nice to see them flying around with reckless abandon! :)

You know I don't understand but Huard just does not look that great, he doesn't have much zip on the ball compared to Thigpen or Croyle, but I guess that shows how important experience is as he makes good decisions and doesn't turn the ball over. It was nice to see compared to the ineptitude with Thigpen and I hope we don't see him again anytime soon.

I'm sure there will still be growing pains and bad games, but that was a solid performance against a good team, go KC!

I agree about Huard, but he is prolly the best Back up QB for this team, hes just a good game manager. Of course any qb in the NFL better win when your Defense forces 4 Turnovers and you rush for over 200 yards.

        • Some tibits about the game in my view
-Derrick Johnson played like a all pro
-Our D line played very well, especially the middle with Dorsey and tank, we made Denver one dimensional
-with a great 2nd half last week and a great game this week, are we seeing the return of LJ?
-If Demorrio Williams keeps playing this well, Donnie will not gets his starting spot back
-We are set in the secondary for a long long time.
-After yesterday game, i respect Broncos fans, even after the game they were very respectfull
-I lost alot of respect for Jay Cutler, hes a crybaby punk.
-and finally you actually saw a team that had fire and wanted it more than the other team. Hopefully more of that is to come. I dont expect us to win very many games this year, but i do expect a fired up team that is competive.

          • The reason for the win, rushing ability and turnovers is not because of the quarterback. Huard is a back-up quarterback. He is fairly solid and has good size to take the pounding and usually doesn't make big mistakes under pressure. He is not the future quarterback of the Chiefs. Still the offensive line was actually able to create holes for LJ and give the Huard at least some time to complete passes. The defense actually was able to place some pressure on Denver's quarterback and he looked really bad. That has not occurred in the past games with the exception of the New England game. While I am not saying that Croyle or Thigpen are the quarterbacks for the future of the Chiefs if they were given decent protection rather than having to scramble (and look like Jay Cutler did Sunday against the Chiefs)and the O-line actually created some running room for LJ they would do as well if not better than Huard.

            • I can't wait for Croyle to get back. If the O-line can play like they did yesterday, it'll go a long way in helping him get comfortable and make plays rather than running for his life and hoping something pops open.

They need to trade both him and LJ off. They aren't using them for anything anyways. I hate to see it, but they may be better off. With absolutely no offensive weapons, they'll surely lose out and Peterson and Herm will both be drawing unemployment.

                        • I support the trade Gonzo and Larry movement.

Id rather it be someone else behind the trade though. i dont trust Carl or Herm to make the best decision

                              • I'm all for trading LJ. But I'd rather keep Gonzo because of everything he's done and continues to do for the youngsters. It is interesting to hear Buffalo now as a possible destination as I'd previously heard the Giants were going to get him.

I'm just not sure how taking away one of the few offensive weapons we have with no replacement is good for this young team. You still need to have some veteran leadership. We have enough good young RBs to make trading LJ easier.
