How is the actual President (and not "if I were President I'd be so tough" John McCain) dealing with the 3 AM phone call issue? If you watched the Daily Show last night, you'll have the answer. Bush wasn't on the phone at 3AM. He was cheering at the Olympics and seemed annoyed that this "international crisis" was interfering with his enjoyment of the games.

So how critical is this crisis? How important are the foreign policy skills of the President? Well, Bush is essentially AWOL watching the Olympics (with Vladimir Putin, at times) and WW3 has not started yet. (Of course, Bush can see Putin's soul. ;-) )

I love how Fox News is laughable but get your news from The Daily Show.

The Daily Show is much more laughable than Fox News. Don't give Fox News credit it doesn't deserve. :D

Spangler: Do you prefer CNN? I admit Fox has a right leaning slant to the news, but CNN has just as much of a left leaning slant to thiers. And if you're relying on Jon Stewart for your info....

I'm saying that your sources are biased (just like mine :D ) and that the so-called "foreign policy expertise" that one candidate or another claims to have is meaningless. Foreign policy should be made in a considered way with lots of consultation with Congress, etc. I saw a lot of "talking heads" discussing the "3AM phone call" as if this mattered or was important. Remember the Cuban missle crisis? JFK had many policy discussions and was very careful; since the Russian had lots of tatical nukes on Cuba, an invasion would probably have caused WW3 when our troops were nuked on the beaches.

Just because CNN isn't the total Reaganite propaganda of Murdock doesn't make it left leaning. They do give some progressive people a voice, but they also give the right as much voice. To me it's just more corporate MSM. The days of true investigative jouranlism on MSM are long past.

You know what would be refreshing - if a news channel actually just reported the news (domestic and global). We get very little news, but alot of people who think they are smarter than everybody else telling us what we should "think" about the news.

Know all we get is "reality" news with a people screaming over the top of each other reading talking points, not even thinking for themselves.

If you really want to watch the "News" and know what's going on in the world, the BBC is more informative than MSNBC, CNN or FoxNews. Only time I will really watch them is in a big new event type situation.

I agree totally.

I have been told that if a commercial doesn't capture your interest or you think it's dumb, then you were not the target of that commercial. I expect the same things applies with the media. And that's why you have the "Enquirer" actually doing all the dirty work.

CNN is as far left as Fox is right. I personally watch some of all three 24hour channels. I do post almost exclusively from Fox because I like the website better than the other two and they seem to have more interesting/odd stories to read about. I do probably watch Fox more, but that's because I like to hear the occasional positive story on our military and thier actions. That's quite hard to come by on CNN. When good things are happening, CNN seems to stop reporting on it. But I guess since it's corporate it's only because thier viewers don't want to see those kinds of stories...

Back on topic....

Russia I've never at all trusted and I think we're seeing a more outward showing of what many have known for a long time. The return of power of the Soviet Union. Watch for Russia to find/create a situation in the Ukraine before too long.

I agree that Russia cannot be trusted. And as I said before, they lost the high ground when they left South Ossetia and went into Georgia proper.

But what seems to be getting swept under the rug is that Georgia invaded a territory that has been largely independent for 15-ish years and have committed civilian attrocities. Is that what democracy has become?

That area has been mostly left alone in the past and the civilian attrocities still haven't been confirmed. It's what Russia has said. And I believe Georgia was responding to seperatist attacks in that region, but I do believe they probably went in stronger than they needed. Georgia has still had a presence in those territories all this time and many ethnic Georgians still live there. Or at least did before the Russians moved in.

Georgia and Russia should get equal blame for this.
