  • Russia Invades Georgia

Russia has invaded Georgia and continues the assault as the west continues to condemn thier actions. This is nothing more than Russia flexing it's muscle towards the US and showing Europe what it's capable of. I've never trusted the Russians and probably won't for some time.

The US is relatively impotent at this point for any sort of sustained response. One must also consider the Rusky mindset, this little operation may be a rehearsal for larger aspirations. Why war game when you can hone your skills in battle????

The US is gonna have to stay out of it. The other countries in Europe are gonna have to take care of the problem. We're already stretched too thin.

The issue is Russia is flexing muscle in a newly demoractic part of the world. We now have former Soviet bloc nations such as Poland, Ukaraine, etc. who are associated with or members of NATO. Such incursions makes everyone nervous because the first rule of foreign policy has been broken.

"I expressed my grave concern about the disproportionate response of Russia and that we strongly condemn bombing outside of South Ossetia.

"I was very firm with Vladimir Putin."

Sounds like Russia is making a weak attempt to become as imperialistic as USA has become under Bush. They won't even come close!

Russia could have claimed the high ground if it had stayed within the separatist provinces. The moment they went into Georgia, they lost it.

The only innocent parties left are the South Ossetians.
