    • I guess that means they'll just have to make up for it tonight. I knew there had to be a good reason the game wasn't on in Wichita...

      • For some good news, this past week Guillen was named AL POW

Hopefully he can keep it up as his success should take a lot of pressure off the younger guys.

        • Also saw where Buck is back, and Tupman is in Omaha. His wife should be able to leave the hospital today and the kids will stay but are doing good.

That is good to hear, my wife and I had premature twins 4 years ago and we were in Wichita for a month while they were at Wesley, it was a pretty scary time, but now they are doing great. These guys and how they can block things out and continue to play baseball amaze me. Here is hoping for all the best for Mr. Buck and his family.

                • Do you have to use the DH for the pitcher? Say Zack is pitching, can we DH for TJ instead and let him continue to play D? We'd have more production from the plate that way........

                    • He started out slow but as of last week was hitting the ball pretty well. I wouldn't be surprised if they leave him in A ball for the entire year. But if he continues to hit well he may be upgraded in mid summer. Highly unlikely as young as he is. They're also not sure if he'll be a SS yet.

                        • I also believe that the Burlington Bees are the lower A ball team with KC. Wilmington is the higher A team I think. But I'm not sure how the multiple A teams work out.

Wilmington is KC's Advanced A-ball team. Burlington is a lower tier of A-ball. Also, DH's can only be used for pitchers, per rule 6.10 in the book. Pitchers in the AL only hit when the DH moves to a defensive position. If Callaspo were to DH, he could "replace" Pena at SS in the first inning allowing Greinke to bat.

"The Designated Hitter may be used defensively, continuing to bat in the same position in the batting order, but the pitcher must then bat in the place of the substituted defensive player"

Might as well just start Callaspo at SS and use a regular DH. I don't think Greinke is better than Butler.

They need to send Pena down to the minors and see if he can straighten things out. You simply can't keep starting any position player hitting .160, especially in the American League.

                            • Burlington is in a "pitcher's league". So you have to view the hitting stats in that light. Moustakas started the season in a slump. That he has his average up to .244 in fairly short order is impressive.

If he continues his steady improvement, especially if his walk rate goes up and strikeout rate goes down, I could see him getting promoted to Wilmington later this year. Otherwise, he'll probably remain in Burlington and start at Wilmington next season.

I foresee Moose in KC no sooner than the 2nd-half of 2010. And by then he'll probably be a corner outfielder.

                              • I was kidding about the DH. Kind of. :D

When I saw Mikes numbers last week I was blown away. Following his numbers at the beginning of the season were a little depressing. Hopefully he keeps it up though. And I agree with Royal. 2nd half of '10 if nothing bad happens. Corner OF is probably correct as well. Hopefully he has a spot because I'd hate to see a young hitter have to be a career DH. (I think Butler will be a solid 1B.)
