Is John Buck done as the everyday catcher in KC? Miguel Olivo and Buck both have one-year deals, and it's doubtful that both will want to resign (or that KC will want to spend $2+ mill on Buck again). Olivo has been winning the battle all year, and it's really not close. It's great that we can plug Olivo into the DH sometimes, and get both catchers in the line-up, but that's not a long term solution. I doubt we'd get much of anything in terms of trade value for John. He'd be a great back-up, but now that we're seeing Olivo every day, it's becoming clearer that John's time as a starter in KC is probably over.

John Buck is the poster child for trading for value rather than to fill a gap. Baird absolutely got killed on the Beltran trade by pigeonholing exactly what he wanted back in return. Poor strategy.

Maybe Posey will fall to the Royals and they will get a relatively quick fix at Catcher.

Butler is sent down today for Aviles. Also Tomko is going to the pen and Davies is going to start on Saturday.

Aviles was raking in Omaha, but god knows where they'll play him. I've heard some things about his D ...

Hopefully Butler can get back to driving the ball. He's a better hitter than what we've seen over the last month.

Tomko should have probably started in the pen in April, and probably becomes our best long reliever automatically. Who knows if Davies will be any better in the rotation?

If anything, at least it mixes things up a bit.

Hochevar gives up 5 in 5.1 and the Royals suck again tonight. Maybe tomorrow night they can just let the O Royals take the field and see what happens...

Well the last time Meche faced Cleveland he gave up eight runs in 3.1 IP. The last time Cliff Lee faced the Royals, he threw a three-hit complete game shutout. #12 might be a laugher.

Last night, Aviles struck out without swinging on three straight pitches, grounded out even though the batted ball actually struck his foot in the box, and popped out, and yet that would still have been one of TPJ's better offensive games of the year. TPJ is 0-5 with 3K against Lee in the past. I hope Aviles is back in there.

For anyone who cares (very few) I got the clean sweep I was hoping for with KC, WSU and Detroit all winning. Nice way to end the month.
