Butler State Fishing Lake has an over abundance of 6-8" crappie right now, and the timing is right for the kiddos. I highly recommend taking the kiddos out there and letting them have fun. As a bonus you are encouraged to keep the small crappie in an effort to thin the population. They are dang good table fare, and the KDWP wants you to take them....might as well oblige.

In Wichita the KDOT-West pond at 96 & 135 generally has some decent blue gill fishing and they are stocked regularly with 12-15" channel cat. I spent a lot of time over there as a youngster.

Yes, they've been very active lately...

I 'liked' your post, however I would probably pay $75 to see naked women fishing; just sayin'...

Example - If this one was naked and fishing, I might add a $25 tip.

I haven't seen anything on Butler. Where is that one?

I ended up finding it on the KSDWT website. Probably a little far for an after work trip, but looks good for a weekend.
