Kind of a hidden secret is the Byron Walker State Wildlife Area west of Kingman. There are five or six nice ponds that are not overfished. You really need to talk to the game warden who has maps and he can tip you off to the best of the areas to fish.

Originally posted by Kung Wu View PostJust found the answer. White perch is considered a nuisance fish in Kansas and they don't want you taking it from one body of water to another (which could cause them to be introduced to that second body water where they didn't exist before).

I talked to somebody on FB a couple days ago that told me they're pretty sure Augusta Lake is a $75 fee to fish per year on top of your license. I was going to take my daughter out there Saturday after her volleyball game in Andover. I guess we will attempt Santa Fe instead. I did hear about some lake in or just outside of Andover that may be good fishing. Anybody know about that one?"You Don't Have to Play a Perfect Game. Your Best is Good Enough."

I don't care if there are naked women and cold 6 packs biting my line, if I gotta pay $75 to fish a damn lake for a year I'll drop my line elsewhere. That would be ridiculous.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov
