Better tires are better. That said, I would have been just as stuck with $1500 mud tires as I was with $1000 A/Ts. While I considered lift/tires that would afford me additional rock crawling attributes, I figured there is only so much I'm willing to put my $45K rig through and investing an extra $5K in it, in KS, is not a good investment.
A good winch is a much cheaper answer!Livin the dream

I've never actually had MT tires as they are terrible in the snow and ice due to the lack of siping. I've always had AT tires, but they don't bear much resemblance (visually or in spec) to the lightweight AT stuff you see most commonly from the factory. The heavier duty AT's look like MT tires with the deep tread blocks and all, but with the addition of siping. The other big variance with the lightweight AT's as compared to the AT's I'm referring to, is that the latter have a much stronger and heavier carcass.
And holy crap on the $45K JWU that doesn't have a Rubicon sticker on the side of the hood. That's got to be some sort of a record. Can't you get a JWU Rubicon hardtop for under $40K?
