He's only needed 24 pitches to get through the last three innings. And two of those were 5-pitch innings.

Boy was I wrong. I thought it would be a high scoring game and at least 4-5 Royals pitchers would pitch. Cueto was nails.

Oops...don't worry, I was pissed about Yost letting off the gas a month ago and look how that turned out. I don't care if he starts Jaba Chamberlain on opening day next year--I will never badmouth him again.

Congrats to the Royals on taking my Astros out. It was a great series! Now I'm rooting for KC to take out the Blue Jays and get back to the World Series!

That 7th inning in the Toronto/Texas game was one for the ages. Perhaps because it wasn't a World Series it won't have the staying power of Gibson's unbelievable home run, Joe Morgan's darned blooper or the shot heard round the world, but it was pretty darned memorable to me...someone that couldn't care less about the outcome.

KC traded for Cueto for that EXACT situation; elimination/winner-take-all game.

He MORE than earned his money and more than lived up to expectations last night. Had Moose gotten that out at 1st and Valbuena not gotten the HR (on good pitch, mind you), we could have been talking about a perfect game.

I also feel good for Rios. He took a lot of slack this season (most of it, deservingly so), but he played a big roll in both games 4 & 5. (It was nice to see that type of emotion he showed after the go-ahead double as well)

That great thing about the Houston series is that although it wasn't pretty, the Royals found a way to win. They battled, got big hits when they needed to, and closed the door when given the opportunity. That can go a long way in the postseason. (Granted, Toronto did that too, bet Texas gift-wrapped them that Game 5 win)

The weather might be a factor in this series. Cooler temps and north breezes will make it a lot harder for Toronto to pound homeruns. Kauffman's fences are much further away, as well. HFA looks like it might actually be a factor that was worth chasing down. Lets Go Royals!
One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

Right after that guy got on base, I said "I bet that will come back to bite us." Then Valbuena hit the home run. I'm just glad that's all the damage they were able to do from that.

Edit: Also wanted to add on... I had this fun fact locked and loaded about how the four LCS teams this year could have been the same four as in 1985, but the Cardinals and Dodgers hosed that up. But, that's okay, because I'd rather see the Cubs vs Mets.

Did anyone catch the Mets' Daniel Murphy going 1st to 3rd on a walk (Dodgers were using a defensive shift, leaving 3rd base wide open), then scoring on a sac fly to tie the game? That was funny!

I hate the shifts so I love to see stuff like that. He did it perfectly how he just jogged to 2nd then as soon as he saw they weren't looking took off. The fact he then scored on a sac fly made it perfect!

The look of dejection on Houston's faces and the look of jubilation on the Royals' faces says it all. When you blow that kind of lead, at home, with the lockers lined with plastic; it is tough to swallow, especial for a young team.

This was the exact kind of win that catapulted the Royals run last season. More importantly, it looks to have awoken the Royals' bats (sans long balls). I look for KC to take a nice victory this evening.

If Greinke never won another game, I wouldn't shed a tear. He would be out of baseball, if the Royals did still with him through his anxiety issues. He replays the kindness by demanding his way out of town, at the first sight of conflict. (After they turn him into a CY Young pitcher, of course).
