I liked Elvis and Nixon. I thought there would be more laughs but it kept me engaged.

Went and saw "The Revanent" loosely based on the amazing story of frontersman Hugh Glass. Little long, but a good flick. Leonardo will prolly win Best Actor for this, but I was equally impressed by Tom Hardy as the heavy.

Rented this last weekend. Both me and my girlfriend felt like the story-telling was poor. The guy should have died at least five or six times. Yes, the cinematography was good, but it added a lot of unnecessary length, IMO. The sub-plot of the chief's kidnapped daughter added very little. The tree metaphor was a little overdone. Too many Star Wars moments (gutting the horse for shelter, and aim by the natives and French that would make Stormtroopers look like dead-eyes). The bear attack was pretty well constructed from a cinematic perspective, but there is no way he should have survived it.

Overall I guess it was OK, but I was expecting more from a picture that earned a Best Actor Oscar.

I rented it as well and really just had it on in the background. It was okay IMO the bear maul scene was really good but overall i was kind meh about it

Yes, the cinematography was good

95% of the movie the cinematography was excellent. But what was with the lens flare moments? Or with the breath fogging up the lens? Those scenes totally destroyed my suspension of disbelief. I immediately became aware that I was just watching a movie.

Also not a movie, but Occupied (on Netflix) is really good too.

I ran on to that series awhile back - it was good and eagerly waiting for season 2

Sing Street is a musical with a strong story and good original music in the 80's new wave tradition. Good show.

I noticed that. There was also a scene where blood splatter hit the lens.
