Guthrie has a better track record and when it comes to the playoffs he's only going to pitch maybe once or twice. And it will only be done at Kaufmann. Both him and Young still hold value pitching in the park.
Id probably stick with Guthrie in the rotation and stick Young in the Pen. I haven't looked at the roster to see what other moves if any need to be made. With Zobrist up there's no reason for Cuthbert to be here But I like the flexibility to be able to give Moose a day off and play him.

They need to DFA Guthrie now. He is a sunk cost. the money is already gone. No need to give away games as well. One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

No one can say that this year's trade deadline was anti-climactic.
Cueto
Zobrist
Kazmir
Hamels
Price
Tulowitzki
Moss
That 3-team deal with LA/Miami/Atlanta
And there's still a day to go. I can't imagine San Diego holding on to all of their trade pieces. It's been awhile since there has been so many significant players traded near the deadline.

Go to Fangraphs and see for yourself. He is actually worse statistically than Bruce Chen was when he was dfa'd. I'm not the Pied Piper of sabrmetrics, leading all the facebook fans to the truth, but once in awhile I get so tired of the "he's so gritty" **** that I snap.
It is a fabulous quote, isn't it? I'm going to miss that young man when he is outta here. One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. Nobody's mentioning the Astro's pick-ups from this week:
Scott Kazmir who pitched a great game in the sweep of the Angels
They also picked up Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers.
Astros are in first place. Would sure be fun for me to watch an ALCS between the Astros and the Royals this year. Would probably root for the Royals, but I'm really liking the way the 'stros are playing right now.

Dave Dombrowski fired as Tigers GM. The ownership must not have been on board with trading away the ace and closer. The new GM, Avila, is the catchers father. His next contract should be interesting. One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. An interesting blog post on Danny Duffy. It analyzes his performance prior to going on the DL (8 starts) to his performance since coming back (also 8 starts).
Though his ERA in his last eight is roughly 3.2 runs better, his peripherals, fastball velocity and field-independent numbers show he's basically the same pitcher, maybe even slightly worse. His "luck" stats, mainly BABIP went from being far worse than the league average, to far better. That's why his lines in the box score look so much better now than before his injury.
His strikeout rate has never been good for a hard-throwing lefty, but it's gotten worse. He's walked eight in his last two outings (13 IP).
It's too early to say Duffy is returning to the pitcher we saw much of last year that set expectations for this year.
