Lately, people, especially politicians, who have said anything remotely disagreeing with the civil rights movement as it relates to discrimination have been promptly vilified. Yet that is why Christian bakers and photographers are being forced to provide wedding services to homosexuals. Unintended consequences.

We can't claim discrimination in the Phil Robertson case if we're not also willing to do the same when it comes to these recent incidents involving Christian-owned proprietorships. The slope is slippery.

Personally, I find nothing legally wrong with one private citizen or business discriminating against another. Otherwise, do we really have freedom of association? The market will punish those who practice business outside of societal norms.

Living in a free society is messy. I don't think the founders ever intended it be nice and tidy.

Phil stated his views by basically quoting the Old Testament. All hell broke loose and he was gone. A & E backed way off. Martin Bashir said that he thought some one should sh!t in Sarah Palin's mouth and you heard practically nothing. Finally after a couple weeks he was allowed to resign.

I might pay to see this, it all depends upon my mood at the time it is going down.

Interesting point about music lyrics and the lack of outrage being hypocritical. And their token homosexual devaluing Phil's profession as being so far beneath those "artists" who distribute verbal filth to kids, implying the latter is a-ok. Not surprising. I also find it interesting that the blonde female ranted about how disgusting Phil's words were, but didn't chime in about one of their own saying he wants to defecate in a fellow female's mouth. More hypocrisy.

Anyone outraged enough to protest at Arrowhead Stadium or Koch Arena this coming Sunday since people are working on the Lord's Day?
Not to get into a religious debate, but the only day Jesus was Lord of was the Sabbath.

                Mark 2:27-28

I hope what a&e has done will awaken the beast and get this country turned back around. We are not headed in the right direction and us redneck hillbillies need to take it back.

thanks for the link. The Robertson are genuine in their faith - and their family have faced the same problems as any other family, but they show how their faith has helped them deal with and get them through it all.

I'm not predicting that we are headed that direction, but the common ground is really kind of spooky.
How about this quote on Fox this morning:

"Often a show will suspend a cast member who does something controversial. This gives them the chance to disassociate themselves from the controversy, see how the wind blows before deciding what to do, then either fire or reinstate the person after the media pressure has passed," Chan said. "We have seen in the past where someone has been rehabilitated or forgiven, and other times where they have been moved out."

So if you disagree with homosexuality you need to be rehabilitated?!? Scary!

                        Vicious cycle...

People vehemently spouting hatred towards gays because of their faith in a book... gays vehemently being as flamboyant as all hell because they know it pisses those people off.

If people would live and let live this really wouldn't be such an issue. Comparing what this dude said to what some other dude said about Palin is apples and oranges. Him taking a **** in her mouth has everything to do with her being more of a dumbass then her ability to marry the person she chose. This is all just opinion so take it FWIW

Years ago rapper ICE T was CRUCIFIED for making a song called cop killer. Rightfully so? I wouldn't argue with that. However soon after his statement was most profound. We have the freedom of speech but you have to watch what you say.

All in all I don't really care about Duck Dynasty or A&E. I feel like there are more important issues to deal with then some one who thinks gay people are an abomination.

I wonder how he feels about my hispanic children.

it funny how people "fwiw" and "weight" in on issues when it becomes clear they didn't even take the time to see what somebody actually said.

I have a feeling that he read it but whatever his motive, this takes the cake for taking what is said and either mis-reading, mis-speaking (writing), misunderstanding or even lying about it to make a point.
