  • Kansas Man Mowing Lawns For Free Helps Raise Over $700,000 For Elderly Woman In Need

Today's good news story comes from Wichita, Kansas.

A man known for his generous acts of mowing lawns for free has sparked an extraordinary wave of kindness, raising over $700,000 for an elderly woman named Beth.

Spencer, from SB Mowing, was contacted by a friend at the city about Beth, who was struggling with an overgrown lawn. The city had issued a warning, threatening to charge her $240 for maintenance—a fee she couldn’t afford.

Spencer visited Beth’s home, where she shared her struggles in finding help. Moved by her situation, he transformed her lawn for free. Beth was overwhelmed with gratitude, brought to tears by the kind gesture.

Spencer shared the heartwarming transformation in a video titled "Her Tears Said It All: 'My Prayers Have Been Answered'", and the response was overwhelming.

Viewers were eager to help Beth beyond her lawn, suggesting donations to address accessibility issues at her home, such as installing a ramp, repairing her driveway, and adding a chair lift.

Spencer set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of $100,000, but the donations quickly surpassed expectations. Over 28,000 people contributed, with one donor giving $2,500.

Messages poured in from donors who were inspired by Spencer’s kindness and Beth’s story.

"I love this story. This is everything that is good in the world. Beth, I hope you get all the upgrades you can and are able to enjoy them," one donor wrote.

"Beth, Our prayers for the love and arms of this community to wrap around you and provide you all the joy and comfort you deserve. Spencer, God uses all of us in his own way, you are a true blessing and guardian angel. So glad we could help!" donor Kevin Wharton commented.

Spencer recorded the moment he informed Beth about the fundraising efforts. Her reaction was pure and emotional, as she tearfully asked, “Why?”

Spencer replied, “They kinda fell in love with you and your story. We just wanted to come together as a community to help you out and get you to a better spot.”

Beth’s story is a testament to the power of community, compassion, and the ripple effect of a single act of kindness.

Spencer’s dedication to helping others continues to inspire people far and wide.
There are pictures and a 32 minute video within the article.

Props to Spencer for donating so much time and effort to help not only Beth, but others as well.

Props to his friend within COW who reached out to him so this poor lady wouldn't get dinged by the city.

Props to the SB Mowing community for going above and beyond to help this woman out.

Groom Breaks Down in Tears Hearing Daughter's Adorable Wedding Day Message - (WATCH)

This is the heartwarming moment a groom broke down in tears after hearing a surprise message from his young daughter as he waited to marry her mom.

The tear-jerking footage of Elliot Gwilliam’s daughter Evie has gone viral with over 120 million social media views and simply must be heard to be appreciated.

Elliot stood in the aisle at Hawkstone Hall, waiting for his 27-year-old fiancé Emma Beddow to arrive on their December 28th wedding. But when 3-year-old Evie delivered a heartfelt message over the public address system, Elliot said he “just lost it”.

Evie’s beautiful words and Elliot’s reaction were captured on camera as she says “Hello daddy, it’s me, Evie.”

“I’m walking down the aisle and will be with you now because you’re going to marry my mommy—and she looks beautiful. Like me.”

“We love you so so much, to the moon and back,” she added.

Fortunately, as the groom’s side’s party was very well dressed, pocket handkerchiefs abounded and were quickly furnished to Elliot who couldn’t hold back the tears.

“We’d been planning the wedding for about 12 months. I actually wasn’t nervous as I stood there waiting for Emma. I thought ‘nah, I’ve got this,'” Elliot said, according to the British news media outlet SWNS.

“Then I heard Evie’s voice and within moments I was gone. I don’t think I managed to pull myself together until Emma was alongside me.”
There's a 45 second video at the bottom of the article if you want to see and hear the moment.

Firefighters Heroically Save Man Trying to Rescue His Dog from Icy Boston Lake in Dramatic Video

From Massachusetts comes a double rescue from under the ice of a frozen lake after a man and his dog found themselves trapped.

Walking beside Lake Waban in Wellesley, Ed Berger was enjoying a nippy afternoon with his dogs Tommy and Oscar, when Tommy saw some birds alighting on the lake’s frozen surface and ran out to try and catch them.

The ice gave way, and Tommy plunged into the freezing water. Berger tried to rescue his dog by commandeering a nearby boat. Without explaining how, the Wellesley Fire Department detailed that Berger fell into the water as well.

Fire Department rescuers arrived on scene and got Berger out of the water before going back in for Tommy. Drone footage capturing the rescue shows how the pair of rescue personnel follow the most important rules for thin ice rescues, namely to perform as many actions as possible while lying on the stomach, or at least kneeling down. This helps disperse a human’s weight and prevents the ice from breaking up further.

The second is that the rescuer who was in the water with Berger lifted him up from below so that he could plant his chest flat on the ice before trying to get the rest of his body out of the water. If no rescue is forthcoming, don’t try to lift yourself out of the water as you would in a swimming pool.

The ice is liable to break under the weight you put down through your flat hands. Instead, put the whole of your arms flat on the ice, and hoist your torso up inch by inch, then wriggle like a seal to get your legs out before heading to the shore on your belly.

There's a six minute video shot from a drone helping aid firefighters in the rescue at the bottom of the article.

Delivery Driver Walks Through Snowstorm After Crash To Help Cancer Patient

Today's good news story comes from Springdale, Arkansas.

When Brooke Kochel placed a same-day Walmart order for heaters during a snowstorm, she never imagined it would lead to a life-changing friendship.

Brooke and her husband, Charles, who is battling colon cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, lost heat in their home as temperatures plummeted. Desperate to keep Charles warm, Brooke relied on a Spark delivery to bring the heaters they urgently needed.

However, Eduardo Garcia, the delivery driver assigned to her order, encountered an unexpected challenge.

"The app kept saying he was two minutes away, and then 30 minutes later, it said he's two minutes away. I finally called and I said, 'Are you lost?' And he's like, 'I'm actually in a ditch. I'm not gonna be able to make it,'" Brooke said.

During conversation, Brooke mentioned that the heaters were for her husband who is going though chemotherapy treatment. Garcia then insisted he would walk the delivery to Kochel.

"I told him, 'I wouldn't have asked you to do this,'" Brooke recalled. "He said, 'No, we can do this. Let's do it. It'll just be six minutes each. We'll walk really fast.'"

Garcia trudged through the snow to meet Brooke partway. Together, they completed the delivery on foot, ensuring Charles could stay warm during his treatment. Touched by Garcia’s kindness, Brooke offered him a big tip, only to discover there was no option for tipping through the delivery app.

Refusing to let the moment pass, Brooke took to Facebook to find Garcia, whom she only knew as “Eduardo” with a nickname she thought was “Shorty.” Her heartfelt video quickly gained traction, garnering thousands of views and shares. Within 24 hours, Eduardo reached out to her.

          But Garcia refused any money.
There's about a two and a half minute news clip on them at the end of the article.

          • You never know what you may be capable of. Never give up!

Runner Completes 268 Mile Race - 18 Months After Being Unable to Walk Due to Brain Condition

A brave podiatrist couldn’t walk in a straight line after being struck down by a rare brain condition 18 months ago, but having just completed a 268-mile ultramarathon in less than a week, it’s safe to say she’s found her feet again.

The inspirational Mel Sykes, 42, was diagnosed with a Chiari malformation after losing her balance and slurring her speech in the summer of 2023.

The condition sees the lower part of the brain push down into the spinal canal and brain stem, often causing double vision and balance problems.

Mel was always a keen runner and had previously taken part in 100-mile foot races—something she wasn’t ready to give up doing. Undergoing surgery to reduce the pressure on her brain, she was told there was a chance that she may never run again.

But she has defied the odds just 18 months after surgery and gone on to complete the coincidentally named Spine Race, which sees participants run 268 miles from Edale, Derbyshire, to Kirk Yetholm, Scotland, in an incredible 132 hours.

“I’m absolutely over the moon,” said Sykes. “It was just amazing to reach the finish. Getting to the start was a win.”

“I enjoyed it. It was tough but I knew it was going to be hard work,” she said, describing sections of the race that required running through snow as particularly difficult.

“The first two days from Edale to Hawes it was going through deep snow drifts, plowing through snow halfway up your thighs, it was really tough going. The north section then ended up not being too bad.”

“The bit when I was at Hadrian’s Wall, the sun was out all day, it was lovely,” she remembered.

Sykes first started suffering from double vision in 2023, and received a glasses prescription. They didn’t help, and soon it was becoming dangerous to drive. After she began experiencing pins and needles in the left side of her face, arm, and hand, she was referred to the specialist neurosurgery team at Leeds General Infirmary where she received the Chiari malformation diagnosis.
