in order to even be considered for CHIPs funding the applicant has to receive local funds. Integra did have the state of Kansas backing them but last I have been able to find out that funding expired in April. Until I hear that’s still on, I’d assume it’s dead.

But they believe they'll still get it because of their specialization and expertise in their field. So while it's been delayed longer than one would hope, there is still apparently a strong belief amongst everyone involved that the funding will be there and I think they're projecting late summer.

This info doesn't come from Integra specifically, but from those in the know around them.

Considering everyone involved and "in the know" still fully believes it is still going to happen, I'm going to work under the assumption that state funding is still available until I hear otherwise.

The video states that state funding has been extended until Oct

Just read where CHIPS funding should probably be done by the end of the year, which could mean another delay in an announcement.

Integra still can't talk about it as a condition for the application.

I haven't talked to anyone recently that may unofficially know how Integra feels about it.

I believe CHIPS funding is down to about $7.5B left to allocate and Integra still wants nearly $1.8B of that. Texas Instruments did get awarded $1.6B a couple of weeks ago.

16 companies have so far received funding. I know a while back Integra was thinking they'd hear something by October. There's still some hope for that.

Between Integra and the Bio-Med, Wichita could be in for a lot of other activity in the near future if this funding gets approved.

According to sources, Integra still believes the funding will be there for them. But now they aren't expecting it to be granted until December.

I'm going to guess Integra has missed out on this funding because it was meant as a vote buying tool by the Biden administration and Kansas wasn't going to reap any benefit for the D's.

Last I heard, through sources, is Integra wasn't expecting an announcement until around December, but they were still very optimistic.

I have no insider knowledge, but based on Kansas and Wichita's track record of hearing anything good economically, I'm going to put a .0000000001% chance Integra gets anything funded through CHIPs, and if it does it won't be enough to make the major changes they initially pitched to Kansas.

Womp womp. Wichita strikes out again.

I’m not sure Integra missed out on funding, but I’d guess that if Kansas was Democrat, it would have been approved a lot sooner. The Dems take care of their own, first.

Wichita at least helps with the democratic popular vote.
Surprised the politicians (especially a Dem Governor) can’t get this done!

Maybe that’s because the Guv spends to much time in, ‘The Middle of the Road.’

                            • WBJ - Moran: CHIPS offer is on the table for recently acquired Integra Technologies

Before it was acquired earlier this month by New York microelectronics company Micross Components, Wichita's Integra Technologies was offered federal funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support its plans for a $1.8 billion semiconductor facility in Bel Aire, Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) confirmed to the WBJ.

Moran declined to share specifics on the dollar amount for Integra, which in 2023 said it would build the facility at Rock Road and K-254 if funding was approved through the CHIPS and Science Act, a program to increase the domestic production of computer chips.

"The question now: Is Integra, with its new owner, interested in accepting the offer by the CHIPS program for funding? That's being determined," Moran said. "I have talked to the CEO of Micross ... They know that there is an offer out there, and they are, as I understand it, determining whether or not the CHIPS funding fits their business plan."

While the offer was made before the Micross acquisition under the Biden administration, Moran said he thinks those dollars will remain on the table with the new Trump administration.
Well, this is interesting. Had Integra not sold, this would be an absolute go. Now that there's new ownership, they have to decide if this is the route that they want to go.

So the good news is, the funding is there. The bad news is, the new owners might not want it...

Micross has allegedly stated that they want to stay and grow in Wichita. Does that mean this new facility that would be massive for the Wichita metro remains to be seen. Bel Aire has stated that they're still committed to their previously agreed to deals. The State of Kansas is still on board with APEX funding for the project.

One would hope that the approval came through before the acquisition and they were well aware of it all and on board. I would hope Integra wouldn't sell knowing that the new ownership had no interest in this project.
