I'm not going to pretend to be an expert about this particular strain that originated in Wuhan and what has all gone into everything since, but as we're seeing here there are experts who are pretty much 180 degrees apart on how they see the best ways to proceed. Kung is honestly trying to collect as much information and data as he can and should be commended for that. Cold just ignores anything and everything that is outside of his narrow and established view on how everything should be and blindly follows a man who has had horrible stances within the medical community for decades and has admittedly not been completely honest with the public as well as following a CDC that will put out recommendations that counter what their own group of scientists conclude based on actual documented evidence.
Neither Fauci nor the CDC have done themselves any good when it comes to PR and public trust over the last couple of years and that's unfortunate as at some point they're going to be absolutely right about something based on hard evidence and facts and there's going to be tens of millions of people who won't trust them because they've broken that trust with how they've handled a number of things over the past two years.
Which is all why we should keep our eyes open to others and take in all research, no matter if the conclusions are what you want/hope or not and weigh it all together and figure out what works best for you and yours. Though that's the approach I try to take on most issues, though not all issues will get my time as there are only so many hours in a day and I don't want to spend them all researching every little thing.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Or only testing certain aspects to reach the conclusions they want. In some cases, it wouldn't be hard to manipulate either your inputs or outputs to get your desired results. And if there are a lot of like-minded people in your field, you can get away with it. We've seen some of that with the global warming hockey stick graph's that were oh so popular back in the day and are still used for some reason by some now, despite the fact that it was proven and admitted to that they used specific choice data to influence their desired results.

Kung has been consistently contrarian to mainstream epidemiological best practices clinging tightly to hope and herd immunity prayers, while Cold has aligned himself with the greatest minds in the ID field, removing all personal bias - viewing the data as agnostic as possible. Cold has also been nearly 100% correct in his projections, opinions, and arguments.

You're a smart man. Samesies.
But I think you might be spending too much on bicycles. ;)
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Sometimes conspiracy theories are true. The vast majority of the time they are not. But stuff like this is fun, right? There's some great Adam Sandler movies where some down and out guy proves all the know it all elite folks wrong. Sometimes, conspiracy theories give us comfort in an uncertain world where things seem completely out of our control. Conspiracy theories also give us a sense of power, a tidbit of "knowledge" that makes us feel we possess something others don't. The world is changing too fast, and conspiracy theories fill a void in folks who understandably feel like they're getting left behind.
When it comes to science, I tend to believe the scientific consensus. When the vast majority of the scientific community is saying one thing but a link to a sketchy website says something different, I'm going to go ahead and stick with the consensus until there's better info. We all need to have some healthy skepticism, but there's also such a thing as unhealthy skepticism. Common sense tends to indicate the dividing line between the two.

Confirmation bias is running rampant in our society these days. So we hear one or two experts say something that agrees with what we already believe, and we ignore the multitudes of other experts who say something completely different. Before everyone was an armchair epidemiologist everyone was an armchair climatologist, and you'd see climate change deniers give a lot of cred to reports, papers, and scientists who bucked the consensus. We absolutely need to listen to those few voices coming from the back of the room, and they have valid points that should be considered in the debate. But if we're going to "trust the science," then we need to trust the consensus."It's amazing to watch Ron slide into that open area, Fred will find him and it's straight cash homie."--HCGM
