Am I a bad person for hoping the Canadian Womens Soccer Team get the gold?

        It doesn't make any difference.

Oh yeah I thought the US made it to the finals. It was Sweden vs Canada. Awesome! I totally tuned them out after all the politics.

Ross brought her A+ service game to the gold medal match.

I threw out an "Oh Canada" the other day in accordance to the National Anthem being racist. I was happy to take a knee that day.

Our track team has been a complete an utter disappointment.

I don’t know what all changes could be made with USATF (or if they would matter), but something is clearly wrong.

Someone needs to be hired/fired, just for optics sake. Zero gold medals on the track for men is unacceptable.

USA had the world lead in 100m, 200m, and 400m coming into the race, yet some couldn’t even make the finals, let alone the medal stand.

I don’t even want to talk about that disgrace of a 4x100 relay. HS would be embarrassed by that performance.

Outside of Rai Benjamin (who had the misfortunate of having to compete against a Norse God) in the 400m hurdles and our shotputters, this has to go down as our most disappointing men’s track team of all time.

I’ll also give a slight shoutout to Fred Kerley for going from the 400m down to the 100m and winning silver, since he wasn’t expected to win.

Covid badly disrupted training schedules and regimens in the USA (especially peak performance scheduling). More so in the USA than asia (at the very least) by a loooooong shot. This is the first time in my life I haven't watched much Olympics, so I have no idea how the medal distribution is looking, but it wouldn't surprise me if asian countries are killing it?

If relays were like horse races, the men's 4X100 relay would have brought enormous exotic payouts.

An exacta of Italy-Great Britian would have been huge, but a Superfecta of Italy, GB, Canada and China would have brought 10K+ on a $1 ticket.

If you had no US, no Jamaica, no Japan (silver in Rio) among others, you could have cashed bigly.

Matthew Centrowitz also didn't qualify in the 1500 (no shame, his semi was insanely fast and his time was better than the other semi's winning time but he was just too deep in his race to get an at large) which kills one of the last remaining hopes for a gold in a track event for the American men. I do think they have to run the 4X400 which should provide a great chance at gold. They qualified with the 24th fastest time ever. Only 7 non-American teams have ever run faster, and that wasn't our A team. The WR time of 2:54.29, which was an insane time that included the incomparable Michael Johnson in 1993 could be in danger. 28 years I think is now the longest standing Track WR.

WR watch when the Americans take the baton tomorrow morning and the Gold drought should come to an end.

The incompetence of penalty shots in the gold medal women's soccer match is stunning. How far the US have fallen to be, frankly, dominated by both these teams is stunning.

                            OH Canada.

                              I disagree.

Everyone had to deal with the setbacks and training issues.

Some rose above and others couldn’t.

The degree to which each country had to deal with setbacks, and the timing of those setbacks, varied WILDLY from country to country (and state to state within the USA).
